So Shojo Beat is no longer producing anymore magazines? I would care if this was a year back when I still bought the magazines. I lost interest in the series that were being translated. Sucks for people who subscribed and now will get Shonen Jump issues or is that not the case?

Well, I'm fairly disappointed, and I haven't even had my subscription for a year yet. I'll check out Shonen Jump and see if I want to subscribe to it or not. I like shonen, but I'm not presently following any of the series which they're following.
Apparently Shojo Beat didn't have the circulation they wanted, and I'm guessing it's dropping due to the economy. I can understand the business decision, but it's a big blow to female/shojo manga fans. I mean, I know enough about scanlations to keep following them that way, but what about those people who don't? Now they're just suddenly stuck in limbo, waiting for the tank releases.
It's sad, in my opinion.
If you've ever thought or said "Nice Guys finish last" and really meant it, then you should probably read this LJ post by DivaLion. It's incredibly insightful whether you're male or female.
From a bumper sticker I like:

That was so sudden O.o,but I guess that's what happens when the economy is down.
Meh;i guess I'll have to subscribe to Yen Plus then..

Starry said it all; Dayuuuum.
That means I can't read any more new issues from the library.
No more mooching. I'll have nothing to do in my free block now. I guess I'll have to get use to Seventeen Magazines. >_____>

This is a bummer only because the scanlation for Honey and Clover is far behind the chapter it ended in Shojo Beat.
Personally, I don't read it anymore but I used to and the end of Shoujo Beat just sounds like the end of shoujo manga altogether. 😲

Hrm. Found out about it yesterday, and got my free Shonen Jump in the mail confirming it too. =(
Shojo Beat is still a label under Viz Media - they'll still be releasing tanks under that name. Just no magazine.

Noo! I was just about to buy a subscription! D=
They used to sell it in Barnes and Nobles, but I never bought a copy because I opened up to a page of smut and because I was STUPID.
Maybe there'll still be back copies left at Kinokuniya. I really want the DIY issue.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! 😢 😢 😢 😢
Well, I brought 2 copies of it and now I'll never get another issue. Well, I guess I have to buy the Japanese shoujo mangas. But Shojo Beat will continue as a manga imprint, so no big loss.
I read so much mangas, I'm too lazy to watch anime! 😛 😛 😛

That really sucks! I'm kind of surprised though. It didn't seem like the magazine had a poor subscription. I wonder if something similar might happen to the other manga magazines?

They used to sell it in Barnes and Nobles, but I never bought copy because I opened up to **a page of smut **and because I was STUPID.
**What issue were you reading? I obviously missed this! ** Oops, I forgot that NANA had been published in the first issues. Haha, forget about that 😀
I'm sad to see it go 🙁 I noticed in my last issue that it didn't say after any of the chapters "What will happen to jdhfjs and jashfa in next month's issue?" It just said read more in volume 8 or whatever the manga was up to.
Sigh... I've subscribed to the magazine since the month before the first issue. It feels like losing an old friend, sorta like when Newtype USA stopped publishing.
😢
Well the (somewhat) new magazine Yen looked pretty interesting when I bought the first issue almost a year ago

WHAT? Noooooooooooo!!
Nononononononono!

........I guess it's a good thing I never got around to subscribing, though.......
Well, I guess now I have to buy the Honey and Clover tankoubon. Phooey. Better start saving up.....
I suppose that's one less constant drain on my extremely limited resources, anyway.
They say it's the thought that counts, but then they tell you, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions......"
Will no one scanlate Takahashi Miyuki?! T_T
