Manga Search Alternative + Merging Forum?

Sorry if this has been suggested before, but couldn't really find it when I looked it up...
Anyway, if you don't mind, I'd like to suggest implementing something akin to a pull-down menu (with choices of Series, Mangaka, Scanlators, Publishers) beside the "Manga Search". So basically, people could type in the names and select the specific type they are looking for without having to do it again on the "Global Search is Down" page. I think this be useful because it'd be a faster, more direct way of looking for manga while not putting so much load on the bandwith.
Also, just throwing this out there, why not merge the "Manga" forum into "Manga/Anime?" There are a lot of threads that focuses on both, and anime is just generally too closely associated with manga to not put them together.

I think that Music, Games, Movies, and Anime could all be part of one forum, Multimedia or something like that.
But i think that's been suggested and shot down already lol

I don't watch much anime either. I use this forum because it is one of the few very general forums that caters to manga readers far more than anime watchers. And since this site doesn't give information on anime anyway, and never will (Unless baka-updates goes and dies), I don't think "manga" should change to "manga/anime".

Considering all the manga including unscanslated ones, doujins, yaoi/yuri, shota/loli, hentai that would be one long list.
Plus what if you were looking for a doujin? Given the length of the search box, it'd only show something like:
Fate/Stay Night - dj -...
Fate/Stay Night - dj -...
Fate/Stay Night - dj -...
Fate/Stay Night - dj -...
Fate/Stay Night - dj -...

There are only a few anime discussions in general, most are specific series discussions and they should just stay in their respective series forums.

Umm... I think some of you mis-interpreted what I meant about the Search. I meant is should have the same kind of format as MiniNova where you can just click the pull-down menu and type in the type you are looking for. Even if the Search box on the right doesn't look like it could fit a lot (which it can), it could be expanded to fit longer text.

Yeah, about the forum thing... I like to sometimes make threads concerning both Anime and Manga, and since there's no place for that, I just make it in Chatterbox which isn't really the appropriate forum. Though I have to agree that this site's main forte is its focus on manga, so... -shrugs-

Oh, I see. You mean you could pick the type of search right from the navigation bar. That sounds good, but I don't think it's all that necessary. I mean, it's not too much trouble to click "go" on the "manga search" and then once the thing comes up, fill in the search field of the type you want. It would be a little easier, though.
As for merging the forum to include anime, I don't like the idea. I may be biased because I do not watch and do not like anime at all, so I don't really want to talk about nor hear about anime (unless it's very general), and I prefer to have this site not have conversations and comments about anime as much as possible. I mean, if people happen to talk a little about anime here, then fine, I'm not going to go crazy or anything, but I think it should be kept to a minimum on this site, and making a "manga/anime" forum may encourage people to talk about anime more. This site is specifically for manga, after all.
But, if there were to be a subforum added for anime, I would want it to be separate from the manga forum. Anime and manga are two different things, and I want them kept separate.
