lol. I had a similar situation to that one. A few months ago when I was looking at a manga my dad asked me what I was reading. When I replied 'graphic novel' he looked disgusted and said 'I didn't know you read porn'. After that I laughed so hard I choked, it was so damn funny. 😀

Using two languages at the same time, especially something so different, like Japanese and English.. I do not prefer.

I live in Canada. Lots of asians. Lots of Asian-English.
Even I used to speak mixed (to those who were a little confused with English).
Plus.. If I hear a cute-sy word like "Desu" or if I hear a -chan in my name, like literally hear it. I'll be sort of creeped out.

i thought otaku meant someone obsessed with something (usually manga)
anyway, i dun really mind (as long as i can understand wht their sayin)
but i dun see why it's irritating to hv japanese ppl use engrish..coz a lot of words in japanese are adapted from english, so they probably use those loan words quite often in their sentences.

just wonderin, if u get irritated when someone uses japanese and english in their sentences, would you get annoyed if someone uses some other language with english?(french, chinese, korean, italian, tagalogue (is that how u spell it?) etc.)

Ah, loan words! I was thinking of that term, but can't remember it. How about people who uses Latin in their senteces? Like "per se", "ergo", etc. Isn't that worse? It's a dead language.

It's Tagalog. Close enough 🙂

well, weaboos are not doing that out of neccessity but to be "cool". making themselves look more stupid. and tagalog is actually a dialect. filipino is actually the correct term for the language in the philippines.

I can't really think of any language which didn't derive words from other languages. Malaysian is a mixture of Indian, Indonesian, Tagalog, Japanese(to an extent) and even English!(compilation with compilation?) So from all ya'll who's getting irritated from people by "loan words" you're bing kinda snobbish and also hypocrite plus ignorant -_-
The ONLY thing I get irritated by is "That's so KAWAII!!~<3 :3" and thats all...and maybe perhaps the American/English accent used when speaking in an Asian language. Don't even get me started on how many names of places the British screwed up in Singapore and probably many other countries that they ruled over.... 🤢

well i do sometimes use Japanese words.. and it's sometimes....I only use it online...
i don't use it with people who doesn't even have a clue what it is...
but what i don't like is people using words that they don't even know the meaning I mean why use those words 😕 !

I use them too and what you just said was sort of my point as well (why aren't people irritated by it). I don't see anything wrong with trying to speak a language that you haven't mastered yet. At the very least, it's funny to hear them say it (with the bad accent of course).

Pidgin is a way to communicate. A fun one.

While inserting Japanese phrases (cheesy and banal ones) is just a gross and unoriginal manifestation of anime/manga fandom. They say Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But an imitation that makes you want to vomit diarrhea all over the place when you hear it is just wrong. Very very wrong.

There, I said some rude stuff again. It's a very touchy subject for me. Please don't make me discuss it any further, since I'm such a sensitive person.
