I'm sorry, but I laughed out loud at the options. How do YOU pronounce manga? Well, how is it correctly pronounced?

It is actually pronounced "the westernised way": Ma-n-ga or manga.

It is not "the Japanese way" monga; nor is anime animay. Same as Sasuke (Sah-soo-keh) not being pronounced Saucekay, nor Naruto (Nah-roo-toe) NARootoe.

Note the A's are pronounced like "Ah" in Japanese. Always.

This is coming from someone who while not even as fluent as a 4 year old native Japanese, someone who knows Japanese. Japanese is a straightforward language, and the most complicated linguistic area it has is stresses (Admittedly, to my knowledge).

Pronouncing the A as an "aw" or "uh" sound = common incorrect perception. A common misconception if you will. Also, it is accurately pronounced either as Ma-n-ga (3 syllables) or Man-ga (2 syllables)

I've always heard white people call it 'main-guh', not manga. I personally say "mawn-gaw" (awww sound like the japanese "a"), but I hardly use that word since "comics" or "komikkusu" is used way more often...and if I'm speaking Japanese that comes out as "koh-mi-kks".

...Then again it seems to be one of those Japanese words with an English equivalent where the Japanese form is used in the US way more than it is in Japan... Like BL aka boy's love is used in Japan instead of shounen-ai or yaoi, which is used in the US. Go figure.

LONG LIVE COMICS.

まんが 😉

I said it the wrong way, which is the way the person who got me into manga said it, until I googled it or something and found the right way.

I say it the right way--"mah-ng-gah."
Sometimes, I will also say "mahn-guh," but that's a slip of the tongue.
I never ever say "man-guh" (rhymes with "plan duh"). It sounds pretty dumb when people say it that way, doesn't it?

I say it the Japanese way, but sometimes I change depending who I'm talking to.
