News: Zero no Tsukaima to End in 22nd Volume in 2012

20th volume of Noboru Yamaguchi's 4.5-million-copy light novel series ships on FridayAuthor Noboru Yamaguchi is ending the Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) light novel series in the 22nd volume in 2012. The 20th volume (pictured at right) is shipping in Japan on February 25, and the series has 4.5 million copies in print. The story follows a budding magician, nicknamed "Louise the Zero" due to her initial ineptness at magic, who accidentally summoned a boy from Earth as her familiar.
There have been three television anime series based on the light novel series, and Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. released the first series on DVD in North America. Later, Funimation acquired the rights after Geneon stopped distributing anime in North America.

I'll miss it, its been one of my favourite series, been hooked since the anime. Hears to hoping the writer doesn't die, that's good talent that would go to waste.

The final season is airing in the start of 2012. So does that mean it will have a different ending from the Light Novels?
Okay I'm not sure about how closely the anime follows the light novels. Can anyone shed some light on this pl0x?

It's simple: The anime completely destroys the original story (especially season 2 and 3). You should avoid the anime like a plague and read the light novels on Baka-tsuki.

Seriously, they changed a lot of things, added too much fan service to 3rd season and skipped some the most dramatic and heart throbbing events (the whole volume of what came to be the second season ending it's just delicious, i love that part, makes me go manly-tears everytime i read it).
Nevertheless, the adaptation is like-able and gives people something to look foward while reading the novels, if it were a carbon-copy reading the novels would be boring. Also, giving each character a voice, and a "acting pattern", Louise, Tiffania, Siesta, etc helps you project the image while you read the novel. Also to add the background music also adds when you read the novel.
I like both, but yeah, it's not up for discussion, storywise the novel is the real deal. But the anime it's good in its own way.
