This week's poll, suggested by Afiaki, is a follow-up with last week's poll. In the case where the publisher released the original chapter in parts, how should the scanlator handle that? Delay or just follow along with it?

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: How do you feel about scanlation chapters released in parts (i.e., 2a and then 2b)?
Choices:
I prefer them - votes: 21 (0.7%)
If it means faster releases, then sure! - votes: 473 (14.9%)
No opinion - votes: 686 (21.5%)
Don't like them at all - votes: 2004 (62.9%)
There were 3184 total votes.
The poll ended: April 8th, 2023 8:30am PDT

Looks like people really don't like it, including myself

Even worse when an official paid chapter release get splitted this way :'(

I feel like the author is aware of the split chapters, so they probably write around it to some degree, which makes it acceptable to translate as they come out.

Naisu. I'm really quite curious what everyone thinks.

Something to keep in mind is that the publisher may release each part  r e a l l y  slowly.
Consider a manga like Kumo Desu ga, Nani ka?, where since only one part gets published every three weeks it would be on the order of two months between each release. If multiple groups were scanlating the same series, would you actually hold out for the group combining chapters?

As in the previous poll, I don't have much of an opinion. I don't mind if scanlators follow the split chapters in the raws, and I also don't mind waiting however long for a full chapter to come out, if that's what they prefer (especially since split chapters often get combined in volume releases anyway). Heck, I don't even mind waiting even longer for the scanlators to release full volume releases instead of chapter by chapter. They're the ones spending the effort translating, so I'll leave those kinds of decisions up to them.

Yeah this, if it was split with author blessing there's no point delaying the scanlation, just release it and we will read it the same way the Japanese read it.

Definitely release it in parts just like how the mangaka release it mmm...

I don't understand why they release it in parts rather than making it separate chapters when each of that can contain tons of pages and release every few weeks mmm...

Somewhat ironic that the poll about splitting chapters into parts also got split into parts...

Release of the translation should also be in parts. This is because the author may have split a chapter into parts in order to create a cliffhanger effect at the end of the first part. If the parts are joined into one chapter, the cliffhanger effect would be lost.
