Getting Caught: Gee, that must be my cat's yaoi stash!

I got caught with shonen ai manga at work today. Ok, so it was only After School Nightmare, but I still had a few moments of panic where I feared that my coworker realized that those were indeed two men kissing. It would be easy to explain if she asked me about it, but so far we've just shared some awkward pauses. Oops!
I am very private about reading yaoi and yuri. I don't talk about it with anyone. I don't want my family or friends to know I read it. Even if a friend or an acquaintance confesses to liking yaoi, I keep quiet about it.
But, I got to thinking and now I'm curious. How do you react when someone finds out about your interests in yaoi or yuri? Or are you more open with it than me? I know some people are very comfortable with talking about reading slash fanfiction, yaoi or whatnot.
And, if you have any interesting tales, tell them here!
I haven't read much Yaoi, but I'm open with talking about it with anyone. If you can talk about moobs, then you can talk about yaoi! Weeee! +_+
And people I know who read manga usually read just yaoi anyway. >>
interesting tale? i found my sister's yaoi stash once ๐คข ๐คข
i was just hunting for some stuff and there it was ๐
no offense but i wont touch the stuff
guy x guy = not for guys
I don't care. I watched yaoi animes with friends several times and I showed some animes and mangas to friends who asked me what I like to read or watch. I'm totally open about, there is things much more embarrassing that people read and watch like porn.

I'm pretty open about it. I prefer to read in semi-private (generally speaking; even if I'm just reading the paper), but all my friends know I have some yaoi and I'm fine talking about it. I don't flaunt it though, and I definitely don't see myself going to Yaoicon. I'm looking forward to Comiket though.
Oh, I read some yuri and hentai too, though the genre I read most of is probably seinen.

Once I rented a yuri-ish anime when I was in college and when I was done with it, I let some of my friends watch it. They thought I was a real weirdo, so we never talked about it. Now I read yaoi, but I don't really tell anyone about it because if people thought I was weird for watching yuri, then they'd definitely think I'm weird for reading yaoi. So in other words, I'm pretty private about it and I don't know what I'd do if someone found out and confronted me. ๐คข

I'm very open about my reading of shounen ai, but I'm fairly private about reading yaoi. I try (unsuccessfully) to get my friends to read shounen ai, but I'll only admit to reading yaoi if someone directly asks me. I don't care if anyone finds out really, I will make sure that my parents will NEVER to see my laptop history. Ever.

I'll have much more problems explaining my hentai stash ๐ For someone to know I read yaoi, they'd have to know I read manga in the first place, like juls91 said. There was a time in my life where I had no idea manga even existed, so millions of people are still that way. Most people wouldn't understand, and I don't go around flaunting I read manga or yaoi, but I don't care who finds out. Though if anyone gives me crap about it they're in for a rude awakening.

My immediate family knows as well as my close friends. I'm not out there shouting it out for the world to know, but I won't deny it when the topic comes up. Though, I probably won't be reading anything that graphic in public. My dad teases me about it (and sometimes will jokingly ask me if he can borrow my hentai/yaoi stash ๐คจ ), my mom is indifferent, my sister and friends just laugh at me, and my brother shows a very slight interest to BL mangas ๐ .
We're weird, I guess.

Manga itself is both litterally and figuratively foreign to those who know I read it. They lack interest in it, so I see no reason to force it on them to begin with.
When I read yaoi depending on whats on the monitor I change the window if I hear someone coming. They know I read manga so its no big deal if its fully clothed scenes, but for the more .. suggestive wink wink scenes I try to keep those a little more "on the down low".
I'm not embarassed or ashamed about it. Its just easier. They'd probably misunderstand and think I was gay. ๐ .

I'm pretty private about this. I don't read the too explicit ones but no one knows that I read yaoi, not even my family and closest friends. So far only my sis and one of my friends know I read shounen-ai. I asked my closest friend if she likes or read shounen-ai and she was like omg no way, of course not. I'm pretty nervous to tell her now. I'm like crimsonsnow with only admitting I read yaoi if they ask me directly. No one will ever see my laptop history but once someone finds out, I'm indifferent. If someone comes near while I'm reading yaoi, I switch to my homework or email. I'm more open here though ๐ .
now that i think about it, theres after school nightmare in my highschool library

for me it's private stuff... my family doesn't get mangas, even comics. they think those are things for kids ๐คจ ... and as for my friends, i barely know a few are into manga, so it's not a thing i would make public in the future, but it's not something i will hide if someone ask me.

the whole nation know about it..hahahah.......i tell them that i read yaoi and furthermore i encourage my friends to read it hahaha even my brothers know it too but i don't like them to read one it's really dangerous you know when they get curios about it...how it feel or something they may even try it so to my brothers it's s no no but they knew that i'm pretty addicted to it. Sometimes they even caught me watching junjou romantica hahaha...and they told me "how many times have you already watch it?" i replied "ahmmm....i think this is the 11th time and i will watch it until i want" as he walk away i heard him say that i'm a addict in a weird things....

I don't read yaoi (not my stuff) just yuri or shoujo-ai. Only read one shounen-ai so far.
My family knows I like comics in general, but I guess only my brother would know what manga is although he never read one. My parents think comics are for kids so it's not something of atopic when I talk to them. I don't know if anyone of my friends read any comics, unlikely imo.
Anyway I have no trouble reading comics in public. As for manga my entire collection is either on computer or dvds, yuri included (they don't publish any manga where I live ๐ข ). So if I read any yuri stuff I keep an eye on my back for someone coming ๐
Hope never to be caught! ๐คฃ
