The world's obsession with virginity is really an odd thing, when you think about it... People always seem to discuss it openly or intentionally avoid the topic. Why is it such an issue anyways? I mean, I'm the same as everyone else, discussing the subject for no apparent reason, but... why?

Personally though, virginity isn't really a big issue for me.

No, it just means that you have priorities that do not include intercourse. I have previously stated that I had sex for the first time when I was 17, and it was with someone that I truly cared for. Finding a quality partner was a priority for me then.
