What, the Queen jumping out of a helicopter with James Bond didn't win you over?

Such a shame.

I guess unless you're British or have knowledge of the British culture, understanding the inside jokes or the story it was trying to tell, especially at the beginning with the industrial revolution, would probably be difficult.
I thought it was well constructed.
It was quirky and very British.

Well, we were never going to top Beijing in terms of money and extravagance anyway (and dare I say it, "sterility"). I was prepared to scrape my eyes out and groan before the start of the show, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised; it was quintessentially British, with lashings of humour and zaniness.

Shame about the NHS tribute since the government wants to rip the system to shreds anyway. I wonder what Mr. Cameron truly made of the Danny Boyle show.

The james bond+queen thing was AWESOME

the british queen comes off as...very correct...so seeing her like this was actually very amusing

and...the rowan atkinson part was also fantastic

and the chinese olymics...so much forced labor, strict regime, cute girls that cant sing, tyrants behind the scenes and mass eviction of the common man that lay before and after ASO
I atleast cant really enjoy something like that...puppets on a string...do or die
this opening seemed alot more humane and grounded in real life

one funny thing...

during the inmarch
when the german team was marching in
they cut to some german official doing the sieg heil salute...over and over
lol
i mean sure he was only waving his arm...but when ur german...and on tv...and someone is marching
you should probably think more about what you are doing

Was Beijing really that interesting? I thought it was cool but not one that outshines any others. Imho London did a nice job, though their pieces didn't flow all that well.

This sums it up for me:

Whilst Beijing was a spectacular sight, I remember someone who likened it to pixels on a computer screen. It's probably unfair to compare the two though since they had completely different aims.

I can't believe Phelps and Lochte lost to a French guy. They must have had a German chasing him or something...
"Einhalt zu gebieten, im Namen von Hitler du Frosch!"
"Courir avant nous devons nous battre! Nager à l'Afrique!"
🤣 I love you Google translate.

Lol I don't read too much into things; otherwise I would lose interest in the whole world >>.
As far as visual satisfaction I still prefer the Beijing opening, but that's just my opinion. I'm not saying London sucked since it's far better than anything I can think of lol.

The opening wasn't the shambles I expected it to be. Great! But then why couldn't they carry it all the way through? The closing ceremony was god awful.
