I am very curious about what you people think!

Would say something offensive to a different race, religion, ethnicity person because you are intimidated and threatened with violence into not offending them verbally, this way restricting you from using free speech, would you go out and insult them, just because you have the right to, undertaking a risk of physical violence being used against you just to stand up for the right of free speech?

OR

Realise that you over-reacted, and that you are an a***ole for even wanting to say such thing and let common decency prevail, regardless of being intimidated?

Let me know what you think.

I'd tell them to stop being a baby, freedom of speech is a right and you don't threaten with violence just because someone has exercised their rights. Where was their common courtesy (a part that makes up common decency along with common sense, imo)? If they had any they wouldn't have been in such an uproar in the first place.

I guess sometimes it has to take a back seat to pride.

I don't know if you watch the news a lot but, you know the "draw Muhammed Day"? This particular event was started by free speech practitioners, which has caused an uproar of all religious fanatics who are threatening to "kill, behead..." etc. those who insult Islam and their religion. The people who started the draw muhammed day were practising free speech. In your opinion, do you think it should have been started just because they had a right to?

funny picture btw.xD

In such a situation, I would consider my own safety more important than 'free speech'. Whatever I have to say isn't worth as much to me. Common sense,

I would not hesitate to put myself at risk for an issue truly worth fighting for, however - freedom of speech is important, but there is a time and place for it.

I think there should be a compromise in all situations where you can say what needs to be said without being a jerk (thus saying your peace with common decency). Being quiet and taking other people's crap makes you a pushover but being a complete jerk isn't any better you know? Though I suppose in some situations you have no choice but to lean in one direction more than the other.

Gah... I hope that makes sense >_<;

Thanks xD
It's awful lonely on the free speech, current events class all over again! 🤣

But yes I know of Draw Muhammad day, and in my opinion it isn't anything to be all in a tizzy about. Sure a bunch of guys thought it would be fun to "exercise their free speech" by drawing Muhammad, mainly to piss off believers of islam, but I still see it as their right to do so. Threatening death based the laws of your religious doctrine that they don't even follow, however, is a bit of a medieval train of thought. It is their right to threaten as much as they want also, but actually carrying through with it is very illegal. It has been a thin line to walk for quiet a while now and the draw Muhammad supporters decided to step on some toes. We aren't on the play ground any more kiddies, bullying doesn't fly, let it go and find a peaceful solution.

does that make sense?
