I donate blood.
That really makes a difference.

I used to - my Red Cross card says 28 units - but for the past 5-10 years my iron level's been too low to donate more than once every year or so. 😔 Sucks because I have great veins so it's fast & easy, but I can't because of the iron levels.

I have, somewhat, but there aren't a lot of high-iron foods that I like, and I suck at remembering to take pills - and even when I do, it doesn't make much difference. 🤢 I'm sure it's because I'm vegetarian, but since my iron level isn't low enough to cause me problems with anything other than donating blood, it's hard to motivate myself to be diligent about it.

I'm too thin even my doctor friend wouldn't let me donate blood.^^;;

Anyway, about good deeds... people do so many good things for me everyday. They're just small things, but it shows how much people care. I try to reciprocate, but I never feel like I do enough.

Um.

I bought my brother pizza today.

I let people rip me off on game gold.

When we were almost out of milk, I let my brother have the rest of it. 😀

Let's see, I do good deeds quite often. I help weekly at a therapeutic riding stable (Tossing special ed kids on horses really helps them. Especially the autistic ones), and tutor at a local elementary school. It's nice, really. I like working with kids, and I like teaching, and I have a soft spot for the disabled, so I go and do these things and all my problems and stress melt away.

That's about it. I hold the door for anyone behind me, and that's about it. What do I ever get in return? You should see this pair of yellow mittens I have. I was given them at the Christmas party for said therapeutic riding stable. It feels good wearing them, and they don't even keep my hands warm. But they keep my heart warm.

But they don't hate you. They're so innocent and naive--don't you feel urges to protect them? I didn't have much of a childhood, and I'd like to see to it that other kids do get theirs.

Good deeds...

The biggest one I've had done for me recently is that I--like a moron--left my purse on the public bus. 😲 Mind you, this is the bus that goes downtown DETROIT. 😲 (Detroit still has one of the highest crime rates in the US.) One of the guys on the bus when I got off, picked it up and gave it to the driver. 😲 The driver made sure to stop when I flagged her down on the way back through even though her shift was over. Thank God my stop is at almost the end of the line. T-T Nothing was missing from the purse--money, atm card, credit card, checks were all still in it--and I got it back within ten minutes of leaving it. You have no idea how good I felt after the panic wore off.
