Long story short, China passed a new National Security Law in Hong Kong. Here's the fun part of the new law: Article 38. The unofficial translation of it is:

Quote from People's Republic of China

Article 38
This Law shall be applicable to persons who do not have permanent resident status in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and commit crimes under this Law against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region outside the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

And, the official translation of it is:

Quote from People's Republic of China

Article 38 This Law shall apply to offences under this Law committed against the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from outside the Region by a person who is not a permanent resident of the Region.

Basically, this law also applies to everyone who is not a Chinese citizen (Yes, that means you). Canada has already dropped their extradition treaty with China over this. However, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the following countries still maintain their treaties: Afghanistan, Algeria, Angola, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Barbados, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Brazil, Cambodia, Chile, Republic of Congo, Cyprus, Ecuador, Ethiopia, France, Grenada, Italy, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lithuania, Lesotho, Mauritius, Mexico, Mongolia, Morocco, Namibia, Panama, Pakistan, Peru, Portugal, Philippines, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Romania, Senegal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.

If you live in any of those territories, I'd advise researching how the treaty is handled. Someone from Ukraine was able to confirm that they have nothing to worry, but other territories may not be as fortunate.
