Hello everyone! I am an art student working on an illustrated feature article for my graphic journalism class about BL doujinshi.
I’m planning to discuss what this genre is and how it interacts with the United States. In particular I am aiming to challenge common Western misconceptions about BL doujinshi. So, I am interviewing several doujinka and experts to paint a picture of BL doujinshi’s history and how it is meaningful to a lot of people.
I am also interested in interviewing a scanlator for this project. If you are a scanlator who has worked with a lot of BL doujinshi and this project interests you, please reply to this thread or message me! I have limited time and am interviewing 10+ other people for this project, so I can unfortunately only select one or two people for this portion.
In your reply, please specify your availability and preferred method of communication. If you'd like, you can say what you have worked on and give a brief description of why this interests you. If you would like any additional information about the project, please message me and we can discuss it further.
The interviewee(s) will be illustrated in the final piece with their input. The final comic will be printed and sold to local comic book shops and posted on social media. If you are selected and would like a copy of the work, I can most likely get it shipped to you or at the very least provide a digital printable copy.
