Why do you think Neiji was only one killed off in the main Naruto cast? Why when he is one of the most likable characters in the series.

Here is a quote form my review: It may have been the right characters to burry but it was the wrong way to kill him. If neji was really one of the most liked, then it just made him more of a target. Just like how jiraya was erased from the story. 🙂

At least they mourned his passing. unlike hayato, who got over 100% ignored! 😀

Hayato was not even the main cast. He was more like a background character. Jiraya was killed off to progress the story to push Naruto to surpass him and he already lived long. Why Neji when he is only a year or two older than Naruto and the rest of his class.

So RS456. Which teen would you have killed ? Neiji was the best target by far because of his connetion to future Mr. and Mrs. Uzumaki and their closely tied backstorys.
I wonder how the Last and the tv special will adress Neji´s death.
Only a dead Hinata or to a slightly lesser degree a dead Sakura would have ment more but the internet wouldn´t have liked that one bit.

IMHO it's somewhat unfair to expect a logical explanation to killing off Neji when your arguments on why he shouldn't have been killed aren't the most logical to begin with.

Anyways, let me take a shot. Killing off more characters would've dragged the story on much further. In fact, I think killing off anyone else wouldn't really have achieved much. Neji was the only character - other than Sakura and Hinata as residentgrigo already pointed out - whose death would have a large dramatic and developmental impact on the story and characters.

I found

Ace´s death in One Piece logical to have something big to finish part 1 but meaningless to me. He was just the cooler version of Luffy with no real story of his own at that point. The flashback about him afterwards is where most of my information about him comes from and even there he was Luffy 2.0. I am still not even sure he is dead for real.
Heroes never die after all. Just ask Robin 2 or 5 or Wolverine or...
I see a 50% chance that he will be back for real even if Toei build him a real grave on their lot. Neji´s death though had meaning to me even if i nearly forgot he was dead during Kaguya. She was a bad time for all of us 😔 . My her new sons screentime be brief.
