This week's poll was suggested by Afiaki. How do you usually get around from place to place?

You can submit poll ideas here
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: What is your natural hair color?
Choices:
Black - votes: 1317 (41.7%)
Brown - votes: 1368 (43.3%)
Auburn - votes: 81 (2.6%)
Red - votes: 46 (1.5%)
Blond - votes: 294 (9.3%)
Grey - votes: 27 (0.9%)
White - votes: 29 (0.9%)
There were 3162 total votes.
The poll ended: January 27th, 2024 11:10am PST

I'm surprised Brown beat Black!

Here in Canada without car you can't go much of anywhere...

I walk or take the bus within my town. If I'm going further I take the bus if one stops where I need it to, or hitchhike.

If I'm visiting a city with Uber/Lyft I'll often use that, especially if the bus service is bad. I appreciate that the bus is cheaper and more environmentally friendly, but if it takes 1.5 hours to get somewhere, nope.

I'd say it's about 40% motorcycle, 35% car, 20% walk, and the rest is various public transportation mmm...

The traffic is horrible here so going around with motorcycle is just way more efficient mmm...

US suburbs, school and work, and Germany, stationed, and US again, work and retired
Drove from 16 to 58, till medical reasons
Donated my vehicle
Now Uber mostly (still US suburbs, you know) for errands, etc.
Brothers and friends sometimes, for occasions
I now have nothing but time to read anything and everything!

But, when first stationed in Germany in the 80's, now THAT was public transit.
Trains everywhere in all directions, slow and stop at every town, fast and non-stop city to city.
Bus routes not only all over cities and towns, but between towns and cities, and snaking out to most hamlets.
And schedules and frequencies late into the night, year-round.
Taxis, then, were public hail on the street, or at stands near stations and shops, with some landline telephone request/ radio dispatch for special requests (pre-cell / pre-ride share, much less Uber)

I can only imagine that it has maintained and improved over the years, with government policies and technological advances supporting it.

In Spain, a bus is the only way to get around. But when I lived in Bangkok it was taxi 24/7. It is so dirt cheap you would not consider anything else.

US City. Bike commuter (95%) + buses (5%). US Suburbs. Rental Car/Taking family or friends cars.

Hopefully, I will never buy a car ever again. I am just paying too much extra stuff. I like biking too, even if my bike gets stuffed jacked off of it every other month.

This. Most of America, too, from what I can tell. I've been told other, non-North American places, due to being much smaller and less spread out, have more people who bike or walk, but the poll here so far might suggest cars are necessary for most places.

I commute by feet, bike, train, bus, and uber. Not sure which one should I choose from this poll. 😅 Out of them, my favorite is train though. It's always packed during the busy hours, but I love the atmosphere, not to mention they mostly have fixed schedule.

I also love cycling, but I sold my bike 2 years ago.. I still have an electric bike at home, but due to some circumstances, I can't bring it over to my new place.

There's a fairly large segment of private aircraft and pilots, especially in the US. They often fly from area to area, sometimes bringing passengers and sometimes just getting somewhere for fun. But there are also people who live in a remote area and the only places to get to are by aircraft.

It's by no means all private jets and corporate rich folk stuff... though to be fair, nowadays, you'd still be upper middle class if you do fly your own aircraft. It used to be something any middle class person could get into in the US.
