what happens if half siblings have sex, would the child(ren) be "abnormal" or "normal"
I'm not sure if this is the right place, but i figured a 10yo shouldn't read this so i put it here.
I'm pretty sure the children would have a higher chance of abnormality than usually, but they don't have to be. I have about 2 or 3 relatives who married their cousins, and most have at least one kid who's physically or mentally disabled.

i thought cousins were safe D:
Generally they are, but it increases chances of diseases, because you come from the same family line, so diseases that can be inherited, their chances would increase, so I guess that's why it's illegal in America to marry your cousins .

Half-siblings and siblings are nearly about the same risk factor. Siblings will always have a slightly worse percentage of having 'abnormal' children than half-siblings will, and cousins will be slightly better than either of those two, but still not a good idea. The further away the 'common ancestor' (if there is one) between your and your partner, the better off the chances of your children NOT inheriting some recessive genetic deficit or illness.
If memory serves, half-siblings have slightly less than a 50/50 chance of inheriting a recessive gene that could be shared by other half-siblings in their children, and siblings have slightly more than a 50/50 chance of sharing a recessive gene with other siblings that both could pass on to their children.
Essentially, you have a 50/50 chance of inheriting a 'bad' gene from either parent. If you share parents, that chance between you and your sibling partner will be slightly higher of having an 'abnormal' child, whereas if you share only one parent, that chance between you and your partner will be slightly lower of having an 'abnormal' child, but still pretty close to 40/60 because the 'common ancestors' are completely shared by both parents. Cousins, because you're now 2 generations apart, not 1, have closer to a 25/75 chance of having an 'abnormal' child, but still higher chances than most people would want to play roulette with.
When you inherit a recessive trait - such as female pattern baldness - you have a 50/50 chance of passing it on to your children. If your children receive that recessive gene from both sides (which is very likely in a half-sibling and sibling parent situations, and still pretty likely in cousin situations), then you will have whatever that problem is.
Whereas if parents don't have a common ancestor, or that ancestor is at least 3 generations back, the likelihood of your parent from X family running into someone of another family with the same recessive gene is significantly less, and therefore you're more likely to receive a dominant gene from one of your parents instead of the recessive gene from both sides, which is most likely if your parents are of the same lineage.
The same is true for animals bred in captivity. Often, breeders will focus on one particular trait that they want to breed into animals, but by doing so, they will also breed in bad traits that they don't want, but can't avoid. This is why zoos across the world share animals so often - they want to breed the animals, but they want to make certain that they don't breed in genetic diseases that will make the offspring weaker over the generations - that would defeat the purpose of attempting to save the species by breeding in captivity.
(Edit: I'm neither a geneticist nor a mathematician, so don't take the numbers too literally. I'm throwing out rough percentages. Genetics have just always fascinated me.)
