I read this probably a year or two ago. It was full color and it was about a boy who was either an elf or half elf who could control animals. He was a slave iirc, and was trying to protect his two younger siblings. He made the animals attack the king(or a noble) and then saved his life. The king saw through this and I believe he was sent to go work in mines or something like that. He eventually goes to some sort of school. I remember it being a rough read because he kept on doing stupid shit.
