Since a few series mentioned in this thread have been changed back, I'd also like to mention the following:

Hulejasig (Bastard)
Jugeun Mabeopsaui Dosi (City of Dead Sorcerer)
Dwaeji Uri (Pigpen)

Kim Carnby is a very popular author and I'd like to ask whoever has privileges and is watching this thread to change these titles back as it's doing him a disservice right now.

Go to User CP then under control panel click "Request Change"
Then type "Request title change to " then add the link to the series you want change

Posted my reply before I saw this, but thanks for the info, I'll submit a few requests in that case.

Glad to help, looks like the series you mentioned got changed back, thank goodness, hopefully others start to notice & help requesting back the original titles though it might be hard to change back series that dont have a official title

I do believe it's been said before (saw it in another naming issue a long time ago) that works with no official English titles/can be translated many ways are preferred to be left as romanization. That said, that's not the case with a lot of the titles being pointed out here (e.g. Bastard).

Alright so updating my list a bit again and I've noticed this isn't just Korean (manhwa) series being affected, it's Chinese manhua and regular manga as well. I can tell they've been changed because some of them retain their original English titles on my reading list but when you click on them their page displays the changes.

Stuff like:
Himeno-chan ni Koi wa Mada Hayai
Ojii-san to Obaa-san ga Wakigaetta Hanashi
Yakuza to Metsuki no Warui Onna Keiji no Hanashi
Rakumei Majo to Toki wo Kakeru Danna-sama no Shinanai Konyaku Shirushi
You Jianmian Le, Lou Xiaojie
Zhang Zhong Zhi Wu

...and many, many more have all been changed from their English titles to romanizations. Who is doing this? What is the purpose? I genuinely don't understand why you went through the trouble to change the title of every single series you could possibly find.

Yea i notice as well but not a big change compared to the manhwa but most manhua & manga can't be change back due to them not having official titles unless the series was given one by the author but even popular manga still have their romanization titles so its not to bothering for the manga changes

omg i noticed someone changed every single title of mine to the pinyin so now i can't even recognize my own series anymore and i thought it was just one aberrant person changing them what the heck

(also one of the titles they changed they didn't even use the correct romanization for)

using romanized titles for chinese makes about as much sense as using romanized titles for korean which is none. japanese is not a tonal language in the way that chinese is so using romaji can result in a title that is more understandable than one in pinyin

i've translated 40 different series. i'm not about to go through and request changes for all 40 of them so it's just annoying

Actually user jj11103 posted a way to add series with the names you prefer in your list, incase you want do that

And yes I noticed most romanization was incorrect as well smh,

Also I don't mind doing that for you, as long as you have the list public I can send in the request for you, I don't send them individually, I usually send them in groups, I can only do it for the series that have official title or given english titles by the authors if they don't they have to left in romanization

aye, a lot of them being incorrect doesn't surprise me
well it's here if you're interested but you don't have to bother requesting the changes 🤣 link

the syntax is usually pretty bad in the official english titles which is why i tend to translate the title into english myself

I also started noticing the changes. It's so hard to recognize the manhwa titles now. Just what are they trying to achieve??

Thanks for sharing the tip @jj11103! It's extremely helpful.

I'm fairly certain this has always been the site's official policy, but I agree that it bothers me.

It bothers me highly because I'm a creature of habit and consistency. I'm fine with it being the site's official policy and I'll let arguing the (de)merits of it to other people more privy to how romanization works in regards to targeted languages. What puts water in my kneecaps though is that there are site wide changes on many titles after god knows how long (some titles have had the same name for a few years), and it all happens without an accompanying notice.

So now I'm forced to re-remember hundreds of titles by their new shown names so that navigating the search and category recs/recs doesn't point to useless clicking, and the less legal fact that I have to be even more careful of what name I copy paste into search bars which is I guess my own fault for partaking in scanlations.

TLDR: If there IS a rule/policy that hasn't been enforced consistently/at all, it would be appreciated, considered polite and last but not least expected to be informed of a committment towards enforcing it, regardless of what that rule/policy entails.
