Did we really need a chapter with all that fighting? You could seriously skip to the second last page and lose nothing.

I guess Kishi was trying to show us how much of super saiyans those two were.

The fighting scenes weren't all that in vain
For one thing it was cool to know that Hashirama had wood sage mode(honestly what will Kishi think of next?)

and it was sort of a glimpse into the anticipated Naruto-Sasuke fight

I want to see the 4th do something crazy and surprise even Hashirama.
Don't know how I feel about Hashirama being a mokuton sage... Was yet another parallel between him and Naruto necessary (after his personality)... I half expected Kakashi to become a dog/wolf sage (he's got dog summons) but I did not expect there to be a wood sage... Although I will grudgingly acknowledge that it does make sense, since his chakra can give life to trees (and sages use 1/3 nature chakra)...

IMO, The last two pages are the worst. They make light of the whole rivalry by saying it started with throwing stones across a river... what more trivial reason for killing massive numbers of people could there be?

Also, is this a flashback inside a flashback story now? Why would Hashirama tell the story and use a flashback at the climax of the battle he's talking about?

Dude they are kids...
Although I did lol at the flashback within a flashback. Ahhh, Naruto and your must to show every shinobi as kids at least once.

True, but at least Naruto and Sasuke had the deaths of their families as their reasons. And Tobi had the death of Rin (which I also thought was lacking and still want explained... they just showed it and never said why Kakashi would kill her).

Rin could have been a Zetsu. And the real Rin was probably kidnapped by another Zetsu-clone and is alive somewhere, which would be the bases of Obito having regrets...lol

Or the author of Naruto is waiting for the right timing to allow Kakashi to tell his part of the story to Obito about why he killed Rin. Although Naruto & Hinata may be the reason why Obito changes heart, I have a feeling Kakashi will say something to Obito that will change everything. Just like how Orochimaru fucked up Kabuto.

And seeing that Minato_Namikaze is back from the dead, if he ever comes in contact with Obito, I am 100% sure that Minato's talk-no-jutsu together with Kakashi and Naruto's talk-no-jutsu will convert Obito against Madara's plan.

And if the 1st Hokage's story changes Sasuke's mentality into non-hatred behaviors, I am sure that we will not see a life threatening Naruto|Sasuke fight... which will suck. 🤢

If Im not remember it wrong;
Rin are captured by the enemy and they want to extract secret from her.
Kakashi is trying to rescue her,
but then Rin is being controlled by the enemy,
fighting Kakashi and ends up sacrificing herself by stab her own self to Kakashi stabbing jutsu,
then she ends up dead,
Kakashi fell unconscious of tiredness and wake up to find the enemy are all dead,
thinking who did it, ask his sensei (Minato, Naruto father) who also didnt know who did it,
and then we found out who the culprit is.
