I just love the customization and freedom of exploration the games offers you. And did I mention the awesome graphics? Or the modding ability that can nearly completely modify the way you play the game? Or heck even the entire game if you want to 😛

Any other fans?

I've only played Oblivion, and because of that I have to say no. Stupid scaled world. What's the deal with that?

Because new games go more for pretty graphics and limit the "world" more?
...I didn't think it had bad scaling though. Or atleast it wasn't so noticeable as in other much more limited games.
You might like Morrowind though, that has a pretty nice area. And get some mods for trees. It gets a bit too barren sometimes 🙂

Yeah, I've heard Morrowind was better about that kind of stuff.

But I just thought that the game developers took the go anywhere thing a bit too far in Oblivion. I prefer areas that have different difficulty levels to a homogenous world. If I go somewhere with ruthless dread demon pirates, I want the area to have harder enemies and better items than the area filled with fuzzy bunny monsters. And I wish that quests always gave the same reward. I guess trying to give too much freedom causes problems in an RPG

When the game fails, the mods are a lifesaver. Look around on Hall of Fame, there are some difficulty adjusters (but because I didn't play Oblivon for long, I don't know how it's named)

I wish more games had a editor 🤣

o yeah theres tons of great mods, from the perverted/pornographic ones, to adding in hunger and food effects, to ridable dragons, new quests, skin re textures and hair models, etc. I would list them all but I think i use about 300+ mods on my Oblivion.

I know, I've seen the mods, but I feel the makers should do these things themselves. I know it's easy enough for the modders to estimate and all, if they use the main storyline as a difficulty guide for areas, but it still annoys the piss out of me that the developers didn't see the need.

And I really did like the modding, play style, and abundance of side quests. It makes me feel petty that I didn't enjoy the game for such a small reason, but oh well.

Edit: oh, and the character creator was a little broken, but that really didn't bother me.

Actually I think this system is best for games.
Let the fans do it. Bethesda does just the tough part (engine, editor, graphics and the base world) and then they let everyone edit it freely.
So if I want a quest to save a bunch of fellow perverts from Ald-Yaoiyh I'd just go ahead and create it. If I hate the difficulty in one part, I'd just adjust it and fight more evil moe Necromancers.
And the chances of that being in a legit game are bar 0.

I didn't find the editor broken at all. Cheats can do the very same thing, they just require opening up the game. And the console. And gasp finding cheats!

Like I said in my post, I liked the modding, just not that the developers didn't take the time to set difficulty for each area.

what i liked the most about morrowind was getting in a cave and finding 3 daedra bastards instant killing me...and then marking the place with wait till i'm level 40 and back kicking your ass and putting your soul in a gem mark

played oblivion and, didn't really like it and the story sucked...and no levitation

and there where some pretty good mods...

I REALLY REALLY REALLY hate the fact that you cant delete Oblivion without the CD ( atleast no the Game of the year edition ) because i have it installed and my cd broke when i accidently dropped it and rolled my chair over the cd 🙁 and of course now i cant seem to find a copy ( im not fond of forcefully deleting the game from my HDD <.< )

the Elder Scrolls 4 : Oblivion is the best RPG game I've played to date followed by FF series.

I also liked this game a lot because of what you guys said earlier - the mods and the modding community.
I'll make one recommendation here. Play Oblivion with Qarl's texture pack. It is amazing ( btw the pack size is also amazing 2GB o_0 ) and also don't forget to play the lost spires.
