Let's see, first, I'd donate about half of it to charity. (Let's face it, why do I really need more than $500,000 in one go?) Pay off what student loans I've already accumulated and then set aside plenty of money to cover the rest of college. Buy a car and motorcycle so I could live off campus. Then I guess I'd probably save the rest.

This thread reminds me of the song by The Barenaked Ladies. Well if i had a million dollars I'd upgrade my computer then put the rest in my bank. Then I'd buy the psp2 and use the rest sparingly.

I guess I would put almost everything in extremely cheap real state (LAND), and enter the organized crime business (maybe use said land to disappear annoying people?). If I have enough luck I can set my own Tyranny/Dictatorship with the help of my pals in the military, then I would ally with potential interesting friends like Venezuela, Russia, China, etc and manipulate my way into global Annihilation of democrazy (THIRD WORSE GOVERNMENT TYPE), because lets face it, is much better to have a smart tyrant than an elected IDIOT (with is what is going to be elected 90% of the time, because the Average idiots are also allowed to vote), a tyrant can only rule if he is smart (or has smart people backing him/her), so my point stands.

You need to be smart in order to remain a tyrant, because those smarter than you (not just intellectually) will most likely bring you down if you give them the chance. (cause unrest, etc)

Also smart tyrants (have yet to meet one) know that the best way to keep everything under control is to have everyone/the important people under the iron fist of conformity.

If people are given the right to choose, then no matter how good you are sooner or later they will end trying someone else, however, if their situation is acceptable and by everyone standards "good", but can't actually change it without a lot of effort, then they would most likely stick with it till the end of their life. (Global warming threat is a sad example)

Democrazy has too many flaws (that is why there has yet to be a real democracy in the world), you think you have democracy? ask yourself a couple of questions, is everyone allowed to become a candidate in your country? If so, do you think they would have an actual chance of winning without any money or support of important people, just ideas and ideals? if your answer is yes, then you must live in the best country of the world... or you are plainly delusional.

Anyway, I am telling you a Million of dollars is hardly enough money to do anything important with it, yeah It could pay operations and get you a home, but is not enough to change anything but your own situation.

Value is given by the necessity, if we lived in a place like mars Water and air would have more value than any Shinny Rock.

I would use my money to get tools (on the overall) rather than save the money in the form of rocks.

Tools never lose their value, because we always need them for certain situations 😛
