It looks more like shounen/genderless...

07-Ghost is neither Seinen nor Shounen. It's serialized in Zero-Sum, for God's sake!

Okay I saw this forum because of another post but what's special about that magazine? That it isn't automtically a "seinen" or "shounen" magazine? 😕

It is not. This thread makes no sense cause if the op had bothered to check the genres in the series info he/she would see that in is not tagged as seinen. Read first understand second, ask third . Get it? 😛

no, it makes sense, because if you noticed, the series info page is user updated. And some stuff might not necessarily be correct so he is right to ask when he notice something that looks weird. That way he would be able to update with better info if possible.

Zero-Sum is a magazine aimed to adult women. I don't know why people still have so much trouble categorizing genres and how they can be so "confused" doing so. Perhaps the only "special" thing that Zero-Sum has is that almost in every site they mislabel at least one series that this magazine runs off as "shounen" or "shoujo". To clarify this once and for all: Zero Sum is not a shounen magazine. It's josei. It's a magazine written by and * for* women.

Could you please be a little more clear? I don't quite understand what you're trying to say here 😔

Well maybe it's because Zero-Sum isn't one of the big known ones for manga magazines? If I find out a manga is published in Ciao or Cheese! I know for both of those that the manga is targeted to females and that the latter has smutty content.

Ah, don't worry. It was just to clarify my first question. I wasn't sure if Zero-Sum could be maybe a "general" magazine that manga that don't fit into catergories such as "shoujo" or "seinen" could fit into.

Actually Zero-Sum is published by Ichijinshi and most of their titles are shounen. Secondly, the gender of the mangaka has nothing to do w/ a manga's categorization; CLAMP does Code Geass and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles, and both of those are shonen.

Ichijinsha publishes REX, ZEROSUM, ZEROSUM WARD, and several other monthly, bimonthly, and quarterly publications. REX is definitely shounen, but from what I understand, ZEROSUM is more of a hybrid mag that hosts a variety of genres, but does seem mostly focused towards women who like action manga, so I can see where it can be taken as josei.

Publisher means relatively little in the way of content, since some publishers have both adult magazines (like yaoi or hentai) and shounen/shoujo magazines. Some magazines will focus on a single genre or topic like sports, shounen, or fantasy. It really depends on the basic content the publishers are going for for that particular magazine.

You are correct in regards to gender not affecting the content of a particular manga. There are men mangakas who do shoujo and yaoi. There's women mangakas who do hentai, shounen and seinen. There aren't really boundaries set for that sort of thing.

Older boys and men, pretty much, yeah, but that doesn't mean the audience is all men. Some women also like seinen series. Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru, Hellsing, Monster, and Leviathan are just a few seinen series that have a decent female fan-following.

Code Geass isn't shounen
and CLAMP only did the character design, they didn't create it....but yeah, he is right gender has little to nothing to do with the categorization

Completly unrelated to this thread but not important enough to make a new one:
Is this shounen-ai? I dont read (shounen/shojo)-ai manga so can anyone tell me about this? It isnt mentioned in its genre but in categories it is mentioned as a sub-plot and also as fake shounen-ai.
Any help on this matter is really appreciated.
Thanks.
