If the free releases depended on a click per chapter, I would. But otherwise, I wouldn't, though I would turn my adblock off for that site if requested to do so. I DO love supporting series I like, but I find advertising to be generally sleazy, and I'm very rarely interested in anything being promoted.

Incidentally, I think webtoons have some innovative way of advertising non-intrusively using characters from their webtoons. I actually find that sort of charming rather than "selling out" because it's not like the authors are putting product placements in their series proper. It's more like they're letting their characters make cameos, kind of akin to seeing Hatsune Miku or Skeletor in car commercials. 🤣

The ad-blocker stays on always and forever, especially since since the same exact super flashing/flickering graphics that cause seizures in epileptics will give me migraines with auras and visual snow. Most 100% legit sites I've been on are also pretty reasonable in that a certain percentage of their visitors will not turn off the ad-blocker ever for health reasons.

As much as I would like to support sites, there's too much malware floating around to risk clicking on ads in general. If the site security is high and the reputation is good like Amazon or Google, I may consider clicking internal ads though. Otherwise, randomly clicking on ads is just asking for a virus.

I agree with non-intrusive AND non-malware. I love adblocker, but yes, if there were more manga to access freely and legally, then I would click on the ads once per chapter (but I wouldn't buy anything from said ads).

I always disable adblock/ghostery on my favorite legit sites, so it wouldn't be a problem to do it on a legal online reader but I'm not sure about clicking on ads..

If you're not actually clicking on the ads, why do you bother to let them be shown?
You're not supporting the site, by just seeing the ads. You're just letting your experience of it, be worse.

i will never click adds but dont mind disabling addblock. unless, off course, its adds for cosplay/ merch/ legit copy of the manga, i will click them if they are affiliated with legit places.

I'll never pay for manga in its current state (way too fucking expensive, and official translations are often both slower and weaker), but would there ever be a Netflix'y-option for it with HQ-translations for a fair price, absolutely.

I like paying for my entertainment, which is why I went 100% Netflix and stopped pirating altogether. I, however, have no desire doing it on other people's overpriced terms.

I would totally click the ads for more online manga. Not every chapter (that would be a lot) but once every few hours or so. As much as I love the scanlators and what they do, there's just too many manga that aren't available online that I desperately want to read. If it meant having english translated manga being readily available online I would absolutely deal with NON-intrusive ads.

Huh, I thought if the ads loaded, the webmaster would be remunerated (like on youtube). So it's useless then :/

I'm fairly sure you support the site when you see the ad since the revenue is by impression. Though the revenue has become much lower than it used to be because people don't click.

Anyway, I chose yes but very seldom since for the websites I don't use ad-block on it is very seldom that I click ads.

I would far rather pay to have a quiet, nondistracting, non malware filled experience.

The only ads I wouldn't mind is for the merchandise (or hard copy) of that very manga/novel.

Yes, but seldom click the ads when they apply to me. The problem is that if an ad service sees that a site is getting a lot of ad clicks but no responses to the ads, they can terminate service or provide less payout for the website the ads are on. It's one of the reasons that many sites see less a payout from ads that are viewed. It also depends on the type of ads. Some ad services will pay out for simply viewing the ads (though considerably less than if you had clicked) while others don't allow that at all or have ads that are a mix of both. As such, you might not even have to click, but unless you know what the ad services are, or if the ads come from the company being represented themselves, then it's hard to tell what's going on.
