So years ago, I watched an anime series on TV. But the thing is, I already forgot the title. So can someone please help me?

The setting in in Japan. Modern Japan. The main character is a girl. Her name is Yamamoto somethin. It's about intergalactic battles. She, along with her friends, pilot these umm, battle airships.

I think it's pretty old. And I'm not certain if it is also a manga. But anyways, please help me find the title. >.<

I tried looking for it on different sites but failed. >.<

I did it on another site that had it as a feature, but typing in "anime" and "yamamoto" in google would probably get you some results anyway. (advertising is against the rules, so...)
