Thats video game stories for you. Why have the player/main character travel around and risk not running into the rest of the cast repeatedly like they're a bunch of stalkers? (Incidentally, this is also why so many stories take place in a school setting. Force characters to meet != character development) .hack did the same thing. Aside from a few plot specific dungeons, the .hack universe recycles a LOT of areas.

not just one city, they mention others but that one city is their central meeting point so its the primary area mentioned. Also they have visited other villages in the game (like in the pvp dragon lands). As for the store its not that there's only one but that they only visit that one because of the girl as was mentioned waaay back.

which means Lotto's team regular incomes are at least 100k per hunt, and yet, they always seem broke, can't even pay some hundred gold
