An acronym for Standardized Testing And Reporting. The "test" part is a bit redundant, like ATM Machine.

I would assume that it's unique to the US and possibly certain states as well, but I don't actually know. I honestly never cared enough to find out.

if you look at prevoius posts, you can usually get answers like this.

So it's standardized testing?

If so I hate it.
We have ACP tests where you get tested every semester on the subjects you have and it maked me mad that my school didn't replace our forign language teacher untill 2 weeks prior to the end of the 1st semester of school. So basically I took latin for 2 years then this year out latin teacher leaves so we have no teacher for most of the semester we get a teacher but get this she doesn't teach latin she teached french. So THE MAN changed us to french, meaning we have to start all over we our FL credits, and we have 2 weeks to go through at least chapter 7 of our text books to learn enough material b4 the testing takes place while other kids have been doing this for 5 months. But no thats not the worst part, we didn't have text books. You may ask yourself now how did that happen? Well we don't know the only thing that saved us was that the teacher had a friend that donated some 20 books, just enough for a class set. I got a 92 on that test but FREAK! Some other students that are taking Native Spanish are already going to be done with their FL credit and what about us former-latin kids? We are going to HAVE to not want to but HAVE to take summer school or something so we can graduate with enough credits... >:-(
Whatever...

Edit: I also have a problem with the fact that my science teacher just found out that we are testing next week when she was supposed to be informed by the high ups about a month or so ago so we could prepare, so we have to go through 20 yes 20 chapters in a week so we can at least scrape by...

I feel your pain. Some schools are very unorganized.
