Try the GIMP instead. It does quite a bit of what Photoshop does and is free.

I'm more worried about the groups that work on seinen mangas. They are really scarce since translating those is a lot of work and when one group closes there is no quick replacement (or none at all)

Look at Hobo-1, he (or she) was doing an awesome work but now it seems to have stopped with no substitute in view.

it just means we are going back to the root of scanlation
everyone does what they like, share when they want, and we are happy that they do
(i prefer high quality volume scan to weekly releases anyway ==)

Oh cool I thought it did...so when will we get Lovesickness Freaks without watermarks cuz they were going to be used in scanlation but I never saw anything? 😮 I liked that story <3

I apologize the donation part, I know better than putting stereotypes onto others. I figured that we were kinda the very few left who didn't want people's money cuz what we did was for free....oh wait we wanted people to help out with scanlating and give their thanks. Yes, I'm a shallow dude.

I dun think hobo is dead if he stopped then I wouldn't care since I'm not into NTR stuff, sorry. 😛

Still I get what you mean and it's much more true for seinen groups than shounen groups. This is one of the things most people reading manga don't get...the line between manga with furi or without furi^^

I was just pointing an example out. As someone who takes part in scanlation with multiple groups and is a student, I know the average age of them is around 16-24. i would say there more student doing scanlation than there are for people with career/out of school. Like sure the people with work tend to stay longer than students but there are way more student always wishing to take part in scanlation

Groups close because nobody cares about the workers anymore.
There's so much a single person (leader of the group) can handle alone.
I closed my group because leecher (why does everyone think that's a negative term? It surely isn't...) annoyed me and they weren't worth the effort anymore.
My love for manga hasn't died down the least, nor will it for any time. But my motivation to share my work (now only translations) with the masses decreases day by day.
People complain about groups accepting donations (which are needed for raws [I don't agree with server cost, because you can actually host a whole group for free, like I did]), but on the other hand they're going to read on Mangafox, the one instance who makes the biggest profit in the community-.-

All releases from Hobo vanished from the torrent tracker.
And since it's for a while now, without any statement, I's sure we can conclude it wasn't a technical problem, but a closure.

While sure it's sad that another Group is closing down, I don't really care in this case.
I mean, look at the history of Mangacurse: Project stealing everywhere, and with bad quality on top of that. At least do a decent job if you steal-.-
No matter how much their Quality increased, the hate for them will stay. I'm speaking from experience here. The majority hates me for various reasons too and it doesnt matter how good of a scan I provide.
So the downfall of Mangacurse is like the death of Kim Jong Il. A fellow human died, but since he was an asshole, everyone's happy that he's gone.

Let me join the bashing 🙂
I wouldn't say that it's mainly consists of students.
It's just your biased opinion.
Though it's true that a lot of student join the community to help, they just as quick quit the scene again.
While the working force actually stays in business. They're by far more reliable than the most students. Of course there are exceptions in both cases.
So to take down your personal view of groups, I hold my own opinion against, where I see that the majority of members are from the working force.
have a good day~

Well the leechers don't care...they got fast "translated" releases and that was enough for them. Which made me get a great idea I will try out after I finished 😀 Told arch and shax about it and they laughed so it must be an interesting idea to try out and see what people do about it.

Anyway you westernized dude...how can you say that he was an asshole? Dude had lots of love for american movies 😛 Not everyone is happy...I don't give a damn about it...too many humans die for me to care..and this wasn't even a chick. 😉

To you I present this NS reality news, lol, remember to read the comments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSWN6Qj98Iw&feature=g-all-u&context=G2102a36FAAAAAAAAAAA
