Eventually the father passed away, and the protagonist inherited his family's business/his father's wealth. On the day of his father's funeral, the hated half brother escaped from his room and the protagonist is forced to let him live openly in the house (? I'm not entirely sure)

I think the reason why the protagonist hated his older half brother was because the half brother was the true heir to their father's wealth. Another piece of info that I sorta remember is that the protagonist would often sleep together with his servant/butler.
