Wait what? Which appearance are you talking about? His firsts? If its his first then it happened around the time when Luffy was to be executed by Buggy, he appeared after its failure for a chapter or two way before they went into grand line, the same town Rogers got executed forgot the town name.

I think he means the real dragon. Not Luffy's dad... Or I'm wrong?
