So I was thinking about how much I like reading slice-of-life-ish manga set in super fantastical worlds where the protagonist(s) is someone with an extremely ordinary job just trying to put food on the table. Basically, a story about those hard-working blue-collar workers, but set in a different world.

I'm fine with all genres, whether it be fantasy (Romsen Saga), medieval (The Dragon, the Hero, and the Courier), or even sci-fi (Saturn Apartments). I'm also cool with most demographics, including BL and GL.

The only thing I don't want recs for is isekai. I know there are a few good isekai that fit this criteria, but I'm kind of burned out on isekai right now. I just want good-old actual fantasy (or whatever) inhabitants trying to make their way through life.

Please check out my Reading and Complete lists before rec'ing. (I've, uh, read a lot of manga.)

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Ah, I'm caught up with the scanlations on that (but haven't finished the remaining chapters that's been translated by Kodansha). It's more of a "historical slice-of-life" than what I'm looking for though, which is characters living in a fantastic world but doing something super ordinary. (Like, being a window cleaner, but in space! Or a courier in fantasy medieval times, etc.) Also, a doctor isn't exactly... a blue-collar job, haha.

Also, thanks for the bump. I was thinking of bumping this myself when I had more free time.

IIRC, aren't blue-collar jobs what you go to a trade school for, rather than a university or college? And, primarily deal with infrastructure? I'm asking because I want to throw production and agriculture in there, but I don't believe their actually classified as "blue collar" occupations.

ooh okay i think i understand what you're looking for now

it's not 100% a match but you could try Houseki-shou no Shinjin and perhaps Star Whisperer
