Im somewhere between amused and creeped out. Creeped out because i find it intrusive and amused because of all the weird adds i get. The other day i got a add asking me if i was feeling home sick and wanted to go back "home to japan" because now the trip wa half price = P

No offense, it's just that your thread topic was very confusing and vague because "Ads" are spelled with one 'd,' "Adds" is an entirely different word.

I'm more creeped out by them than amused. I can imagine how they are made, on which information they are based.. and that's one of the reasons I don't use facebook more than I absolutely have to (which is a unused mail, nickname, no friends - only for student forum) , i don't have a mail account on gmail (they have my search history and that's enough), and I don't keep cookies. It's not enough, but it's better than nothing.'
Corporations say they don't keep your personal data but only the record history (google), and that they use it only for profiling. But. If you are a regular user you'd usually type things like: the name of your school/university and faculty, things connected with our lifestyle (gender), things you want to buy (how much money do you have?), street names, not to mention googling your own name, just to see what's there about you and so on...
Another thing is that kind of advertisement is more effective - and that's also for me a disadvantage, because there are many ways to manipulate someone into buying their product, and if the product is interesting for the person and they know what kind of ads this person like..

But true, when I still kept cookies and haven;t installed adblock yet (freshly installed system) i kept getting advertisements of JAL (japanese airlines) and foodstuffs (and I don't live anywhere near Asia). But im pretty sure that if i started watching also videos in my mother language they'd be more or less accurate..

To sum up - I'm creeped and I think they should be banned. I care about my privacy and I'm not really into being an object of advanced marketing.

I always turn adds off on every site.
