🙁 I didnt read it, but Pom the Panda sounded very sad... But after reading the sypnosis, here are a couple of mangas that might fit the description:

1.Bind Us
2. Chiko no Negai the very first story; this one might fit better than Bind Us, but Bind Us is still okay.

there are quite a bit of others i remember, but i can't think of the titles. sorry. Hopefully these help ^^
