Everyone who was banned (including me) have fun venting your anger in here.
Lots and lots of anime sites hosted their vids on veoh, which is now completely out of reach for nearly half of the world.
Someone tell me, what did 164 countries do SO wrong in order to get banned? Now they ban all emails coming from these respective countries too, from what I've heard.
This is basically outright discrimination. Not only was Veoh a great resource for animes, it also hosted alot of independed interesting vids, like youtube did, so I don't wanna see anyone come in and say "you can always use another site". I don't mean -only- animes were there, but it was also a source that was nearly as good as youtube, only without the time limit.
And their excuse? "We don't get enough money from the commercials aimed at these countries so let's kicky-ban them". Niiiice~. If someone can explain the logic behind it, I'd be really grateful.
@Nins: of course I tried with proxies and none seems to work. It's because javascripts I think are disabled for proxies. Plus, the issue isn't "getting around the problem", it's about veoh's actions. I wanted to say "recent" but I don't know how old this is ^_^'''

True, proxy's can be a **** if they decide they want to be. Anyways as far as Veoh's explanation, I'm a little baffled if its true, but from what I understand Veoh is basically saying that it pays more to support the servers required to stream these nations videos than they do from the advertisements that are used in those nation's IP addresses. If that is true I can't really blame them for banning the nations, but I would have expected them to try and change the smegging advertisements instead (but who knows, maybe they did that and failed).
PS: There are certain programs and web browsers that will actually mask or change your IP, including your country of origin, try looking into those >.> Some are free, some are not

I like veoh even if can have its bad moments.(eg. they have started adding adverts or when theyve got rid of videos) i can find full episodes of anime and jdramas whereas youtube's videos are split into 3 or 4 parts which is bloody annoying! also you can download them onto your computer and watch whenever u want.

I personally like veoh, before they started deleting everything. I used to download anime from there, not anymore though, they deleted some of them. And then I liked to download dramas from there, nope, they deleted all of them with subs. *sigh* because of that I had to learn how to use raws and softsubs and a bunch of other programs. But it's alright, I hardly go to veoh anymore.

Speed racer was an utter disappointment. So not many online videos on the net, heck not that many ppl even watch the movie in theatre.
Many sites that embed veoh videos are trying to host their videos on youtube, dailymotion, megaupload etc. So even though Veoh is like ... being stupider, they're giving the profits to other online video hosting sites, and not themselves...... which is stupider.
Veoh actually share high quality videos, which is what I respect the most from them... because they're not as cheap as other hosting sites where they only share low quality... and some have to pay in order to get HQ. ><;; I guess nothing is perfect...

They only really delete stuff like a month after it's posted.

I don't go to veoh that much. I do hate the fact that they delete shows and stuff. I also hate the part if you want to watch something, you have to download something first to view the whole video. If you don't, it only shows you, like, the first threee minutes or something.

I only use Veoh when I can't find the videos on YouTube or where to download them. Finding the right anime episodes on Veoh is hard, I stumbled upon an episode of Tsubasa Chronicles in Latin (a dead language)!!!! I haven't done anything to get banned but I hardly use Veoh, it comes in handy once in a while though

The country where it is located in also plays a big role in what it can and can't show. People tried to sue the hell out of 'the pirate bay' when it was relatively new. It was the biggest torrent provider for a while.
The lawsuits went absolutely nowhere because they weren't bound by US law so they laughed at them.
Veoh rocks, I hope they stay up forever.

I agree with all the haters out there, veoh is kinda messed up, but I think you have look at their perspective, they are a company veoh.com and as a company they have to sell and advertise in order to make a profit and if people from other countries are not producing a decent amount of money and they cause traffic thus slowing down the server, it seem within their rights to ban them. If they hold vids that are copyrighted and refuse to remove them, they can get a lawsuit. However, I do not get why they had to make everyone download VeohTV, to me it seems like a waste of space and time. Also their site layout and code has some problems...(atleast for me). I also don't get why they try to make everything so complex, should just keep it simple and nice.
