yea i didn't read anything about two mangekyo's in mine either, it just said eyes of my brother, can i ask what translation you were reading yamikisara?

i'd also like to point out that itachi seems intent on removing his eyes knowing full well sasuke hasn't awakened the mangekyo sharingan. if you look at the demons eyes behind madara and itachi you'll notice they are not mangekyo, but normal fully awakened sharingans. in my opinion when itachi mind warped sasuke he didn't take his eyes then because his sharingan wasn't fully awakened yet.

so are you saying itachi is a moron? or almost blind? in my opinion he wouldn't take them just to go blind again, that would make him a moron, but i guess if he was already almost blind he might just want to see the light for few minutes more

Itachi is sure Sasuke has the Mangekyou and that's the only reason he want's his eyes.If he took a normal Sharingan and made another Mangekyou of it then he would still be loosing his sight

Anyways, I also didn't like the fact that Itachi lost his cool and started laughing maniacally, it seems to lessen the hope of him surviving this.
This story needs a fair trade - if Itachi's gonna die, make Sasuke at least lose an eye or sth. His superiority is getting on my effing nerves.

That isn't solid proof, at all. Because why would Sasuke (who absolutely loathes his brother, which means he's also disgusted at Itachi's suggestion of attaining power) get the Mangekyou Sharingan? That's like saying, "I listened to you". And Sasuke doesn't want to do anything that Itachi suggests at all.

Didn't Itachi say, "... But I can't help noticing. You still don't have the same eyes as me, Sasuke."?

Now I might be making things up but that phrase comes up a lot. Haku said to Zabuza that they had the same eyes, gaara said to naruto either that they did or did not have the same eyes (i can't remember which) and it has probably come up in other places. So Itachi could just be saying that Sasuke isn't a crazed sociopath like he so obviously is.

On a completely different note I felt that this chapter has altered my perspective on this series. I can't really put into words what is different or if it's better or worse, but I feel very on edge right now. The stakes have changed and I feel like I don't know who's playing for what.

Yes, but you have to read what comes next. 😛 Because after that they show a flashback with Itachi saying, "And when you've obtained the same eyes as I have, come before me again!"

So Itachi really is indicating to Mangekyou Sharingan.

again, (i think) that could mean "come back when you are an emotionless psycho killer" otherwise how could the naive cute little Sasuke kill his big brother that he still does (i think) harbor some affection for (deep deeeeep down). Or it could be crazy Itachi making a pun! 😁 there could be many explanations.

It does make sense that Sasuke doesn't have the Mangekyo, but I won't bet all my money on that just yet.

Yes, but if you remember the moment where the flashback happened, you would know that he talked about how to gain Mangekyou Sharingan. And then he said that sentence. It would only make sense that he's talking about Mangekyou Sharingan now too...

Sasuke has Mangekyou Sharingan because if you notice when Madara stole his brother's eyes, at that point they both had awakened their own versions of Mangekyou Sharingan. Therefore Sasuke has to have Mangekyou Sharingan otherwise Itachi would be fighting for absolutely nothing right now. Case closed. Or they're just having a little skirmish just for the author to illustrate how much Sasuke has grown in comparison to Itachi and that would be completely retarded.

erhm, sasuke doesn´t have mange sharingan, as someone stated above, and itachi does have to fight not only for sasuke´s eyes, for his life too (even if sasuke doesn´t have mange sharingan, it seems itachi is almost blind, so he doesn´t have a choice either)

But see, you assume that just because those two brothers had Mangekyou Sharingan. You don't have any solid foundation for your assumption, just baseless conjecture.

id also like to point out sasuke seemed unaware of the adverse effects of the mangekyo sharingan so in other words he doesn't have it. kakashi became aware right from the beginning that he was losing his eyesight, so i think sasuke would have noticed too.

So the only possible explanation for Itachi wanting his brothers eyes is because he has indeed obtained the level of Mangekyou. If normal sharingan was required to sustain plain eyesight Madara could have stolen any one of the Uchiha's Sharingan, but did not. But we'll see whose right soon.
