Hi, I’m a professional game translator. I work off temp contracts so between official work I do some unofficial game translation on the side when there aren’t any jobs for offer. But game translation is long, tedious and comparatively thankless. I mean that’s fine, I’m doing it for my own love of these games, but it’d be nice to also be doing something with a little more instant gratification. Manga seems like the kind of scene I’m looking for.

So, yes, I want to translate manga on my downtime from translating games for free which I do on my downtime from translating games for profit.

I’m an adult and can do adult stories as long as they aren’t just smut or actual ero manga. I also don’t mind doing simple manga for kids. No real preference for one over the other (and obviously anything in between).

I don’t really care for straightforward high school rom coms or similar stories. I like high concept stuff. I’ll do BL or GL or whatever as long as it’s high concept and not just doe-eyed teens gazing at each other in high school corridors.

I don’t do one shots. Ever. Hate em. Give me a real plot I can sink my teeth into.

I don’t do tight schedules but I do like some degree of regularity. I don’t want anyone riding me for a chapter each week on X day by Y o clock. Thanks I have a job already (2, actually). But I also don’t want to translate something and have it sit in limbo for a month. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for something in between those extremes.

Be very clear what kind of translation you want. I’m used to localization so I use 0 Japanese outside of proper nouns, reverse names, ignore direct translations of words in favor of English phrases I feel convey the intent better. I know some people hate this kind of translation so let me know what you want. As long as you set out guidelines I can stick to them.

I’m on Discord so PM me your channel and I’ll drop by if I’m interested. Tell me what you would want me working on and why your team would be right for me.

Look forward to signing up with a nice chill crew. Hopefully we can chat outside of shop talk sometimes.

Edit: Okay, looks like I found a good place. Thanks everyone for your offers.
