I was wondering, why not rating the mangaka as we do to thier manga?

What do you think?
Would it be useful and practical? Or just an unnessessary burden to do.. 😳

What's the rating system going to be?

Rather than rate them on a certain criteria, could do something like the stats and list them in order of popularity of those tracking series.

I was thinking about the quality of thier works in your mind (plot, art, something more).
Don't think rating a mangaka by thier popularity would be such a good idea, because it doesn't expresses how good they are.
Take the auther of Naruto fore example- such a popular manga, but does anybody knows about other works of his in such a manner? Or al least knows about them.. And It's not all that good... 🙄

i don't think it's necesary, in the author page you have their manga listed and each one of them is rated (if somebody rated them). It would be interesting, but i don't know if it would be practical, and not many people would use it.

It seems kinda pointless to do this I think, considering the manga themselves are already an indication of the mangaka's quality of work.

Each manga is also its own world, so trying to tie them all together and rate the mangaka on all of them seems rather superficial by tacking that number beside their names.

Though it might make more sense to rate the manga themselves on plot, art, etc, but each mangaka has their own style so it seems a bit forciful to rate them on those things without the manga.

As to why no one mentions Masashi's earlier/other works? Probably because there aren't any, or there is one, but from his earlier submissions before he made it to Shueisha, it probably really sucked (his earlier attempt before Naruto got accepted was a bunch of crap slapped together with a really shitty story and art, no wonder it got rejected.)

I agree with the above.
Kinda pointless if all of their manga is rated already...

By the way, happy early birthday NightSwan. =)

I don't like this idea. My reasons were already stated above. A Mangaka's quality of work changes over time. Sometimes a Mangaka can create good manga and then after that they can create manga that isn't as good. I think rating their manga is enough.

I don't like this idea either, for the exact reason LawX has posted.

Besides, to rate a mangaka, you should know all his works, not 2-3. I don't have enough faith in ppl to believe that they would choose the rating carefully, after reading most of mangaka's works.

If a mangaka rating was implimented, the obvious thing to do would be to get an average of their manga ratings. I don't think it's a good idea in general though, for given reasons.
