It is a shoujo manga. It is set in historical times. As far as I remember, the plot goes as such: There is a girl, who is a daughter of a wealthy man I think (not sure if her father is alive or not). She leaves her home or something along those lines and trains to become a geisha. I think a young man takes an interest in her and helps her around. And her friend also keeps a watch on her on her father's order I think. He's a samurai or something like that. I think he keeps asking her to return probably.
