Friend wins over crush

I've seen a lot of love triangles lately and I really want a particular sort of story: a hero is in love with a girl who is or becomes very close to him, but he has to win her from a crush she has. It's made plenty clear that she's very close to the hero and trusts him quite a bit, but still she's crushing on someone else. The only caveat I have here is that I only want stories where the friend actually wins over the crush.
I've seen plenty of stories that fit without this caveat but none to my recollection that still fit when it's included. There's plenty of stories with a hero falling for his friend or befriending his love and getting really close, perhaps demonstrating some really great chemistry in the process. But every one I've seen ends in one of three ways:
1: The boy is left heartbroken, watching as his beloved is swept away by her crush. In a lot of cases, he even takes steps to get the girl together with her crush for her sake.
2: The story ends with only partial conclusion, where the girl becomes aware of the hero's feelings but basically rejects him, leaving him to either give up or continue pursuing a girl who's made it clear that he's not the one.
3: the hero discovers that he's in a similar situation: a girl he knows gets close to him, and he either finds himself falling for her instead or she confesses and he winds up taking a shot with her.
Again, I've seen those three possibilities in a variety of series, but the one thing I have not seen is a series where the hero actually manages to win the heart of his beloved, and convince her to take a chance or make her realize how much he's come to mean to her. The closest I've come is After Friend, where the focus is on the hub of the triangle and the girl isn't even actually interested in her "crush", she just thinks "it's weird for a fourteen-year-old to have never had a crush, so hey, likes me and he's not ugly, I'll go with that!"
PS, I'm tentatively OK with gender-reversed versions as long as they aren't too smutty or too shoujo. I can handle some Shoujo, I liked Fruits Basket for instance, but a lot of that stuff just rubs me the wrong way.
