So there's this site called Swoopo.com.

There's some unbelievable deals that happened there.

The CATCH.

You pay to bid. 1$ per bid. You have to buy bids in packs as low as 20, or as high as 500.

It's a gamble. Each bid raises the price by 15 cents, and adds another 15 seconds to the clock. Basically you want to be the last bidder.

They make a killing on it. Let's say this.

http://www.swoopo.com/auction/apple-ipod-touch-8-gb-new-generation-/103051.html

An ipod touch sold for 73.20, normally worth 230$. That means 488 bids were placed. That's 488 dollars plus the 73.20 fee the winner has to pay. All those people lost their money and didn't even win anything except for the winner.

They have a thing called bidbutler which automatically bids for you. It's evil, it makes you lose money most of the time.

They sell various things, usually consoles, ipods or laptops.

If you pick a category, and scroll down to see the past bids you can see how much each person saved. Those with 0% savings actually LOST money.

The makers of that site must be rich by now. It's like a blackjack table in a casino. Some people win, but more people lose, and that's how the casino earns money. It's evil. Sitting back and watching the money roll in. If only I was that evil. 😀

Yeah it started in the UK. Swoopo.co.uk (only allows UK bidders) Must have been successful...I wish I would have thought of it! But idk, I have values and stuff. Tricking people like that into losing their money, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

But there ARE some lucky people out there that get good deals. A lot of people do save at least a little money. As soon as it gets more popular it'll be harder and harder to get good deals though.

Quote from Jhauk

Well, that's mainly how world works. :/
You buy sweets, clothes, all kinds of inventions,
furniture, services and products and guess what,
you don't need even the tiniest bit of them.
No, not at all, yet you've been made to believe
you do need them. You are the target of the market
and they aren't ashamed. Some of the people get those
great deals, but they probably bought
something they don't even need in the first place.
The one that can outsly the others will win the round,
thus you shouldn't feel bad if you are cunning.
The money of the winners comes from the losers,
always.

I guess that's how the world works.

If you know how to work those bids, you could make a lot of profit. Everyone has an equal opportunity, so I guess it's not bad at all. I was looking at it from only 1 point of view.

Your opinion wasn't incorrect, no.
I just said that you shouldn't take the
weight of the world on your shoulders
for being "evil."
This is dirty business, but that's how
everything goes. Apotheracy sells lives,
clerks sell happiness etc.

I am not sure how this bidding butler works,
but if it just bids when the time goes near zero, there
will be a maelstrom of bids that won't end, since every
butler will bid when the time goes near zero and
boooom.

They call it entertainment shopping. I can see how it could be addicting, as long as you have money. The rush of bids as the timer almost reaches zero, hoping no one else bids...then BAM! Tons of bids come in.

The bidbutler I have to say is a bit dishonest. They make it sound like this intelligent software bids for you, when it just randomly bids. It will keep bidding until your bids run out, no matter what the price, or time is. They should change it so it stops bidding when you stop making savings, and only bid when there's a few seconds on the clock. Actually, smart people need to just bid on their own. But yeah, the bidbutler doesn't always bid at the last few seconds, so there is a chance you can win. You can also hope the other person runs out of bids before you do.

Some people however feel like, "Oh, I've already invested this much money into this, even if I'm not making a profit, I wanna get something for my money, dammit" Rather than just giving up and not getting anything while you wasted your money. Nobody likes that feeling.
