Quote from Dr. Love

I don't celebrate my birthdays. 😢

At least you're not the only one. I don't even keep track of when mine is, people have to tell me. 😢

We should create a club for us.
Welcome to the club!

Here how it goes:

-Relatives come, hand me the money and candy, we chat, my aunt complains how fat she's become, my mother argues against that, people ask me stupid questions, I glare at everybody from afar, we all sit down to eat.

-My mother as well as myself bring the food to the table, everybody starts eating, and then drink the first toast, the relatives congratulate me and say stupid blessings, the relatives compliment on the food, yet my mother tries to make them eat something more, people chat a little, then we have the second toast.

-After the second toast things start to get more lively, relatives start remembering old stories from back in the homeland about 40 years ago, we eat more, and then drink the third toast.

-From this point on, the men start talking about the vodka, the women chat about work, I forbid my father from drinking more, people start telling jokes, ask me to say stuff in english, ask me how my studies are going, they say something stupid, I answer back, (they're all always surprised that I answer back even though I've been doing that since I was little), we fight a little, we all drink some more and then continue to the dessert.

-The women complain they can't drink anymore since they've good work, and can't eat more sweets because they'll blow up, and gain weight, but everyone still eat.

-We chat some more, eat sweets, and then I go chat with my father or just leave the room.
Some stay, some leave, the aunt helps to clear the dishes, they congratulate me some, we say goodbyes, I curse them in my heart, and we all part with smiles.

That's how it's been since as long as I remember.

@shard2323
3?
It's been like this as long as I remember.
Besides, it's once a year and I get money. Nothing I can't handle.

Well it varies, depending on my financial situation...but it's normally divided into two parts...

First of in the town I study...I either make a dinner, or just snacks...and compensate with additional booze...after that going out.

Second is in the hometown, where if the said financial situation is good, we roast something (pig, lamb...)...and then treat the family...and after that friends.

Birthdays are fun and seeing all my friends celebrate them...they'd probably bash me if I didn't treat them on mine. 🤣

Ah, gonna have to throw honeybear a party! 😃

Well, as for what I do or have done for my birthday all depends on how old I'm turning. Though, now that I've passed all the "important" birthdays - 16, 18, and 21 - it's mainy just going out. I'm kinda spoiled by my roomies, so I usuaully get a huge breakfast made in the morning and then we all go out. Usually to the bar first and then we mosey on over to a strip club or something because I'm all bout helping girls "pay for their college."

25 - 30 - 40 - 50, and so on, are all semi important, even if not as important as the others.

Tho, i believe every birthday is important, since its another year closer to death, and another year you've evaded it.

When I was younger I had parties. I had a big house party for my 13th and 16th since they were significant birthdays. My 17th was spent watching the Spanish lipizzaners. For my 18th my parents took me on a £4000 tour round Italy. I had the opportunity to have a party but my dog died the day before my birthday from cancer and I'd had him since I was 4 so I was a bit upset. My friends took me to an Italian restaurant instead and that weekend a few of us went clubbing to celelbrate my coming-of-age though I'm the oldest in my group so back then we were limited by how many could actually get in the clubs, lol. My 19th and 20th were just night's out. My borthday is near Halloween so the last 3 years I had a Halloween/Birthday party as well. Next year my 21st will be big but after that probably just go have some drinks with mates. Nothing big since I'm all grown up now, It's depressing.
