Rant - Light Haired uke Stereotype

Majority of Yaoi/Shonen-Ai manga have blond or white (mostly Japanese manga since they are not colored) haired ukes. At the very least the uke has lighter hair than the seme. Although the situation has been improving lately, 80% of the older manga are like this. Manga which go against some prevalent stereotypes like height etc still end up having the uke as light haired.
This is true even for cases where the seme was an uke in a prior relationship (not talking about seke in a relationship) or was r***** (like "Gift", "Yoru To Asa No Uta", "Lies like Lies", "Koko Wa Yasashii Niwa", "Shite Hoshii Koto, Oshiete Ageru", "Itsuka Koi Ga Kanau Made", "Renai Patisserie" ... The last 2 even go so far as to say that even though their dad abused them he is still their dad.. disgusting (although this is a different topic all together)).
Same is true for some of the shonen manga characters as well.. Nakago, Aois Trancy, Mcgillis Fareed, Jugram from Bleach (heavily implied) are some of the blond characters who were abused.
Why is it always/mostly blondes. Is this a racial domination thing. Aren't Japanese, Korean, Chinese east Asian and as such mostly should have dark hair. Why not just have both parties with black hair.
Now that I got that off off my chest, can someone please suggest any manga which is reverse of the last 2 cases.

I think this stereotype is born because the first works of the BL genre where set in 19th or beginning of 20th century Europe, mostly in France or Germany, and America and they were inspired by the European novels with homoerotic subtext or explicit text like “Death in Venice” by Thomas Mann and “The portrait of Dorian Gray” by Oscar Wilde where the male character who is fancied by other men is described as androgynous , blonde and with light eyes.
One of the reasons I like BL series set in fantasy setting inspired by historical China or Korea or Japan, like “Mo dao zu shi” and “Tian guan ci fu” by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu, “The husky and his white cat shizun” by Meatbun, “Liu Yao: The revitalization of Fuyao sect” by Priest, “Dinghai fusheng records” and “Tianbao fuyao lu” and “To rule in a turbulent world” by Fei Tian Ye Xiang and “Thousand autumns” by Meng Xi Shi, is the fact that both leads are dark-haired.

lots of points to address in such a shot assertion lol. Here's a few reasons:
- Unfortunately, colorism is still a dominant mindset across the world. Femininity is light, delicate, emotional, while masculinity is dark, stoic, powerful. I don't agree with this it at all have you ever noticed that female love interests in male-demographic stuff are frequently idolized for their fair, white skin? Have you ever noticed that in regular, real life media, famous women of color (especially those considered attractive) are a lot lighter than famous men of the same race? The reasons for that are also the reasons for light ukes
- Europe and the US probably haven't helped by pushing the idea of blonde hair as the ultimate sign of femininity
- Asking why manga/manwha/manhua doesn't give everyone black hair is kind of funny. The rainbow hair is part of the appeal. There's lots of yaoi where both men have "realistic" hair colors - brown to black - but generally you give them different hair colors to distinguish them apart.
- Do you want them all to have realistically Asian hair or do you want role reversal?
As for recommendations, I would have to know what you're into before giving any. I like role-reversal in any capacity but I also like problematic stuff, which doesn't sound like your taste. Maybe try Semantic Error, Nirameba Koi, XXX Buddy? Black haired ukes. There's also Kantoku, Neko Na Ore wa Dame Desu Ka which is about a dark haired, masculine guy who models as a top but secretly wants to be a bottom. I think most of the cast had black hair in that one.

Loved "Mo Dao Zi Shi" and "Heaven's Official Blessing". I read the novel, Manhua and also watched the anime. Waiting for the second season of TGCF. Yaoi with plot is awesome 😀
Thanks for the other recommendations. I will check these out.

I am not saying it has to be dark hair always.
I personally do not associate uke with weak, delicate or emotional etc.. Seme can have all these characteristics as well. For me Seme/Uke are just s** positions. Just that I am sick of the uke having light hair.
Thanks for the recommendations. I think I read these. They very good 😀
I am actually very specifically looking for Black haired Seme/Shonen characters with traumatic past like I mentioned in my initial post.

I once read an author's comment that said an uke with toned or dark hair was harder to draw. That may partially contribute to the issue.
I would recommend:
Here U Are manhua. It's a bit of a slow burn but a good story.
Rain Again
There are Things I Can't Tell You
Raiatea
Until I Meet My Husband
Yakuza wo Shibatte Ii Desuka

Would love to know why that is! Do you remember?

That doesn't make any sense.
If I understand drawing, you first make the outline and then fill in the tone. How does that co-relate to uke mostly having light hair.
If they just want the uke to always have lighter hair than seme, isn't that just some weird racial domination thing or internalized misogyny.

Am I the only one who is so irked with 80 to 90 % of the BL having uke with lighter hair than seme?
Ensuing another rant... Please skip if you want to save yourselves the headache or the opportunity of being offended.
Warning: Might have some high level spoilers as well.
After my initial rant I came across more manga with such blond abuse.
Especially works from author "Arima Arashi". All 3 of their works have light haired person abuse.
- One of the manga has Blond Seme, who was forced into pstitution by his mother and was sually abused daily. (Disclaimer: child abuse is wrong either way).
- Another manga has a Blond guy (School student who is so pretty everyone calls him Madonna 🤢) who was an uke before (with a TEACHER 🤢🤢🤢).
- The third one has a trope where a dark haired guy was abused.. Ok many be this author is not out to get the blonds. But surprise surprise (not really 🙄) the dark haired guy being abused was a trap. He is the seme and he abuses the blond uke. I mean really.. If this is not a serious case of racial domination then I don't know what is. I mean in some manga when someone tries to rpe light haired uke or seme, they explicitly state that the heritage/mixed heritage/hair is quite unique and that's why they want to do it. (Rpe is about domination)
Apparently Yankee uke is the new trope where surprise surprise the yankee has dyed blond hair.
In some manga I don't even understand the logic authors apply for genetics. The uke's parents/family has black hair, but somehow the uke has light hair. Even better, 2 brothers (one seme and one uke) in a relationship with another set of brothers (one uke one seme), somehow have 2 dark haired semes and 2 light haired ukes 🤣 . WOW.. That's some serious genetics research.
I also came across an article which was applauding "Umibe no Étranger" for breaking many stereotypes, and all I can think is.. it did not break the biggest stereotype.. "LIGHT HAIRED UKE". Even with the tags of unexpected Uke/Seme, it's pretty easy to figure out the positions. If in doubt, Light haired guy is the uke. Very few exceptions.
I am somewhat irked by SOME fandom as well.
- Only manga with this stereotype are mostly adapted to anime. You know how supply and demand works.
- I searched for topics and discussions on different sites regarding why ukes mostly have light hair and guess what.. The most popular reply across sites 🤣 is "That's not the case. I read <> manga which has blond seme". Literally only 1 out of every 10 manga has blond seme.
- If the guy is pretty then how dare he think about being a strict top. A pretty guy is equivalent to women and hence by default an uke with all the stereotypes attached to women. Women are weak, pure, innocent, gentle blah blah blah. (Some women might actually fit this, but there are plenty who do not. There are tons of guys who fit into this. Being weak has nothing to do with gender. People have weak moments and they might need help. But not everyone is always weak and always needs help. There are plenty of people who stand up for themselves. By strictly adhering to these stereotypes we are just insulting women.) And what does being an uke/seme/switch got to do with physique and personality?
Disclaimer:
- I am not saying that ALL of the manga should have light haired person as seme. Equal or close to equal distribution would be ideal.
- I condemn Child abuse of any form.
- R*pe is a form of violence and domination and has little to do with s**.
