All I can recall is that:

• Genre was sci-fi-ish, or close enough.
• The first chapter had the MC receiving a dangerous guest at home, or expecting one. And there was a tub involved?
• Possibly some ribofunk in the mix. Something about shape-shifting or chimeras?
• Style and theme could not be Shounen or Shoujo. Very unlikely to be Josei.
• Not Cambrian. The style was a lot more detailed (or gritty, or less flat or had more than just solid mono-width lines).
• Was likely Adult, but that wasn't its primary genre.
