I was wondering if there could be a profile option to show somones gender or sex?

It would make it easier, because I am worried I might confuse someones, and then have them get angry at me.

Right, but then again, why does it matter on the internet? If someone wants to be a male or female on the internet, that's their choice imo.

Well usually based on some MMO game studies that people did. The reason I've come to believe why anyone would change their gender is for the benefits of tricking other players into getting items or in-game currency, which is why I wonder why people would change their genders on a forum board.

In a MMO, its kind of understandable. Those things are so unreasonable when it comes to items and in-game currency.

Honestly, I have hardly met anyone who lied about their gender on forums on the net. Then again, I tend not to use them too often.

Especcialy on IRC, if you're a girl, you'll be hit on. I don't see what use it would have on a forum, but maybe they are cautious.

Well, it's still just a gender, not such a big deal on the net, unless you're constantly giving out stalker info away. If you befriend someone they usually won't mind telling you if their a boy of girl, honestly I don't see what's the point in hiding it. Age would be a different matter though.

btw, how do you know that you haven't met more people that were lying?

Most people I have met before on forums have become good friends, so I have seen pictures of them, and talked to them on the phone and such. None of them lied about their gender.
