Quote from Lhianna

if the series is picked up and translated into English, whether it be just a translation or a scanlation, it is no longer viable as a material for me to translate because my professors won't know which translation came first, especially since I'm not allowed to post my own translation online in any way until my dissertation is finished.

Just send links to series page/this topic and parts of translations/scanlations to those professors time to time and you'll be safe in any case.

Why not just... pick some old series to work instead? Those haven't been touched for ages and likely to remain so in the coming years. Hell, you could even make it seem like you have sophisticated taste by choosing those old works by prominent mangaka.

Telling people not to translate a new on-going series is just silly.

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned this, considering that English translations by danbooru user JuanValdezJr have existed for the pages posted to pixiv ever since July 2014 (1 year ago).

As of May 2015, 44 pages on danbooru have been fully translated and from what I can see, these pixiv translated pages are identical to 3 or 4 full chapters which are found in the currently released tankobon v01.

It's not particually hidden either, since its currently the 2nd result on Google when searching for the title, with the 1st result being mangaupdates itself:

While I applaud your taste (this is an awesome manga), I fear this wasn't a good choice if you lose all credit in the event of someone else translating it. It's a very good series, new, in a highly popular genre; not to mention the pixiv translations already exist.

I was actually planning on translating it myself (I already have my raws scanned in!), and while I will now refrain from doing so, I think the odds of it getting picked up by some other group are rather high.

You might be better off picking, as mentioned above, an older, finished series that hasn't attracted any scanlation interest thus far (and so is much less likely to see a translation in the upcoming months).

I totally agree with this one. Now I really want to read this O.o (And I would not even know about it if you didn't say anything.)

JuanValdezJr's translation doesn't appear on search engines. When I did hunt it down I noticed the original Japanese on pixiv is different from the published manga. Also JuanValdezJr's translation is really bad, he's made a lot of mistakes.

Can't wait to read Lhianna's version. If it's for a masters degree, you know the quality will be good 🙂

I don´t comprehend how this ludicrous thread isn´t locked as it´s very nature is against the rules of this very website but begging for releases is even worse.
