Yeah, the anime is adapted with great accuracy.

I watched the anime, but I didn't read all of the manga. I did read the last volume to see if went beyond the anime. The result - they were exactly the same. Lol.

since this is a text heavy series (so i hear i havent read it yet), is the manga better, ie is the anime just a bunch of talking, or does it add something? without spoilers please!

It's pretty much an exact adaptation. It isn't really "text heavy", it's just not an action series. I think the anime can adds a bit because of the sound track, but the art looks better in the manga to me. I think they're about equal, it just depends on how lazy you want to be.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

probably the anime distorts/invents some of the real intentions of the author, so it's always better to read the manga (18 volumes). but the story might be difficult to hang on to that long, it's not... very romantic, for one, lol. however, like the answer from kana503 says, yes the anime seems to emulate the manga pretty much almost equally, i guess that made it easier for it to be 74 episodes long. i watched because it is on netflix with japanese subtitles. one day if i come back to it im definitely reading the manga, might even get another perspective on the meanings of the ending (if you can call that it, to be honest)
