as I remember it; Gol D. Roger didn't say anything about One Piece, he only said that he left power, fame, fortune and everything that you desire("his treasure") there, later on it's called One Piece I belive because it's belived that it's only one thing that will grant it all to you....what it is, I honestly don't know, I belive the voyage itself that's gonna grant the person who becomes pirate king all of that, but what One Piece really is.........it must be either smt really simple or something truly grand and amazing 🙂
and it's somethig that will turn the world into chaos again as stated by WB who knows what's hidden on the last island, though it might not be One Piece that does that but the recovery of the void century and the will of the D 😛

man, i hope it's not as cheesy as something like friendship, strength of character, etc. That would be as bad as an M. Night Shyamalan ending. I hope it's the history of the world, not tampered by the World Government.

I always contended that the One Piece is the hat. He'll reach Raftel, then Shanks'll come up right behind him, and he'll give him his hat back. End of manga.

I thought just like Luffy, Roger said the one with the most Freedom is the pirate king and thus owns one piece. Which would make one piece more of a symbol then something of actual value.

one piece is a single thing (actually i like it if it's a being) that function is to rule/control the entire ocean and whatever normal and mythical/magical things/abilities... everything it posses. making the person who hold it become the king of the sea.... or whatever.
but the thing is, once you have it, then what?

what is the point of having a navigator if the sea can bring you anywhere you want? what is the point of having a fighter if the sea can swallow any of your enemy? what is the point of having a doctor if the sea could heal you? what is the point of having a cook if the sea could feed you? what is the point of having a carpenter if you don't even need a ship? what's the point of having a musician if the sea could provide you with music? what is the point of having a scholar if the sea could provide you with any knowledge you want?
