Now that Viz is rereleasing Dragonball in thier new "Viz Big" format. (Three volumes per book.) Do you think It will still be censored?

Eh. never saw it.. people still are releasing dragon ball? o.O eh i suck xD 3 Volumes in a book might be confusing, and if you only need to read one volume and that specific volume is sold out or nowhere to find... you have to buy such 3 volumes :/ bummer.

I think it might be a big thing.. since it is Viz after all. :/

It's not censored. I own both Viz Big DB & DBZ. They even enclude 2 chapters in full color. Which I thought was pretty cool. =3

Of course it will. It's selling in the US, which is much different from Japan. If any parent saw Bulma's nipples in the manga, then no more Dragonball.

it's possible for that to happen, but then again if they do what happened to Tenjou Tenge, then you know it's going to effect them for it too.

Dunno about Dragonball, but the Viz Big Kenshin manga's really well done, colour pages and high quality printing and better covers and everything. plus it's nearer the size it's meant to be seen at, even if the text ends up looking freakishly big as a result..

Now if only they'd publish things with really detailed art, like Blame or Berserk, in this format...

Not really. Look at what they did with the Yu-Gi-Oh manga. They brought over the first series of the manga, which 4Kids wasnt willing to even touch the anime of it, and they didnt even censor it, meaning it was chock full of dirty humor, and alot of death threats and such (like, if you lose this game, i'll cut off you finger or fingers or if you lose this one i will kill your firends or grampa and so on). They also keeped the orignal names of the characters in it and with all this going on, it was only rated T, which one cant help but think they actually would have given it a T+. I cant help but get the feeling the perents of some little kids were shocked to find out how the real Yu-Gi-Oh was after they're kid read it, lol 😀 .

So nips in DB wouldnt be out of place, because they did actually rate it a T+ for some reason (why is it rated that well DBZ is rated E? o.O ). I'm sure the reason they didnt change it is because, like you said, DB is very popular and something like that could actually end up hurting sales and such (they are bussiness after all, you wouldnt want your business losing money just because parents and such are put off and complaining over something small), so just making it so you dont see the nips can stop this unessasary bit of people getting bent out of shap over nothing. They have said that the only time they censor stuff, is when its something that in my mind would be something small that too many people will focure on and get put off by when they really shouldnt (sometimes it can just be stupis like the on in FMA, but that didnt really change much in that scene and didnt take away from the story in it at all), and that can hurt their business and such, so the only real bit of censuring that i have seen from Viz is actually usual something small and doesnt take away from the story really at all (it sucks and all, but i fail to see how not seeing Bulma's nipples ruins the manga). I just wouldnt get to bent out of shape over small stuff, is what im trying to say.

Also, i checked out they copy of the VIZ BIG edition of it at Chapters and such...and was sadly dissopointed by what i saw 🙁 . Viz has let me down here because they ruined a good thing by cheaping out on the quality. For one, its printed in China (which i have not seen Viz ever do before), and becasue of that, the paper quality sucks, and so does the visual quality of the images aswell, sometimes they were ok, but some also looked pretty faded and such, like its quality looked like if i were to go and print the manga at my house on regular printing paper...and i think thats because thats exsaciulay what the chinese did here. This makes me even more sad seeing that the volumes have inter flaps and colour pages and such sigh... why couldnt they have just printed it right like they did with Cat Eyed Boy and such, they did a damn good job there. All i can say, is that i've been put off by they're cheap move in printing and am not willing to actually buy the VIZ BIG edition of they're DB anymore, because i would just rather just look for the old version of it from them and read it in some quality printing (well...better printing). Fuck im also worried thier actaully going to cheap out on the Vagabond VIZ BIG Editions and that to me will be very very insulting to go and ruin the feel and look of that master peice.

well there's a number of reason why people would be upset about it. major reasons could be like: if they censored that, what else did they censor? or ruining original content that was aimed at a certain audience to go for a younger one. lezard made a good argument about it, and it's definitely understandable. however even the slightest bit of censoring can just be to much in itself. especially since a majority of the time it's used as a tool to get a younger market, regardless of fans feelings. and really it's not fun knowing that they could let the censorship of the mangas go to the extent of TenTen. that in itself was a result of ignoring how much we let these companies censor their products IMO.
