Please only answer this if you have been to japan/living there now...I know what google says.

I know that here in the US, japanese restaurants are usually sushi-bars or the grills where they cook in front of you. im pretty sure they dont have those grills in japan, right?

And do they really eat sushi as often as is portrayed in Anime and just in general? I know such things as the california rolls are made up here in america. Is the sushi there radically different than ours?

Also, if sushi isnt the "main food" what is?

Im going to japan this summer, and I really want to know about the food. I absolutely love sushi, raw or cooked, but iv obviously only ever eaten it in america. Iv never tried some i didnt like, and that includes stuff like seaurchin.
