Prolly biggest reason for more yaoi then yuri is cause, face it, you can't do as much with two vaginas then two dicks. Yuri is like, "Let's lick each other and stick phalanges up each other!" while yaoi, is more like "Let's tie up your dick so you can't cum(Bondage, much?) and stick weird-ass things up your anus.. oh, while we're at it, let's stick my dick and tongue up your anus, too!" There is a lot more to do with yaoi then yuri... And, as a bonus, "your eggo is preggo*" doesn't happen. (cause females can use donations...)

Good people, i started this topic not because i don't get who and why reads yaoi... It bothers me that people who read yaoi manga are much-much-much more active in voting and as a result we have unbalanced view of best-rated mangas. Or rather it bothers me that some people who don't read yaoi manga do not rate their favorite titles. What a hell? How a beginner manga reader suppose to choose what to read?

Well, this is just for my own opinion since I'm too timid to search for the real answer, and I doubt there is really one haha.

For me, A Homo is a guy who prefers a "guy" or a man as his lover or something. That's just it, he prefers a man more than women.

But for a Gay, he is also a guy, who, most of the time, doesn't accept the fact that he is a guy and that he has a genital organ than that of a guy and substitute himself into thinking that he is a "she" who's looking for a "he", since that is what a "she" is supposed to look for.

So if I summarize it, a HOMO is a male who acts, talks, and accepts himself as a male/guy/man, only that he also prefer same sex over the opposite/women.

Likewise, a GAY is also a male but somehow despises its fact and subdues into thinking that "a girl is supposed to love a guy".

I hope you get what I mean. XD

In my opinion, HOMOs are waaaaay cuter than gays. Actually, most Yaoi titles has homos as the character of the manga. I hate gayish characters, since I find it insulting for a guy to dress as a girl. It really sucks. (Except in Isabella's case, the gay character in Paradise Kiss. He's kinda cute actually)

Amen to that! It's even worse when a guy dresses as a woman and the other one thinks it’s a turn on. Ugh! If you like women so much than WhyTH are you with a guy? That's beyond ridiculous.

I'm not really a big fan of yaoi and i'm a girl =). (I prefer yuri. surprise surprise xD) It does get me a bit irked when there's like 2000 titles out there, and if you click any 10, you'll probably get 8 of them yaoi/shounen ai. m(_ _")m
But keep in mind that it's practically girlxguy stuff because one is a lot more feminine than thought possible...O_O

Glad for your explanation, except that it's wrong. Homosexual and gay are both correct and polite ways to view the same people. Except that homosexual also applies to lesbians. In other words, the category of 'homosexual' includes both gays and lesbians. All gays are homosexual but not all homosexuals are gay. Is that clear enough ?

As for the concept of what you are trying to define by 'gay', look it up in a dictionary. Maybe, 'effeminate' would be a better definition. Or maybe 'femme', though that's a French word misused in English (in French : woman ; in English : effeminate guy).

If you guys say girls read Yaoi because of pure sex or just jealousy of big-boobed female, so I don't understand what gender I am.
I don't like sex so much, or neither am I jealous of pretty female in Hentai/Ecchi (I hate these kinds of manga the most instead), you guys might doubt this, but really I read Yaoi because I prefer two men seeing together, and really fed up with normal couples.><.

what's wrong with reading yaoi? Especially after all those stupid, crybaby shoujo characters it is just like a medicine. (except for some yaoi mangas that have reall girly ukes) And it isn't absouletly like hentai. These mangas have plots, and some of them are really cool. Have u ever read Yatteraneeze!? This one is not all about sex or girly ukes...

Hentai like Porn is targetted at males..teenage boys to be exact. Females tend to like a little more depth in what they read along with sex and most females who read yaoi like males, so it makes perfect sense for females to like yaoi. Read some compare the 2 and you'll see theres a major differance but pick good ones because some yaoi like hentai is just crap. But please do keep an open mind because history shows us how dangerous closed minds can be. Females especially love a good hard core seme...heh perhaps the guys out there might learn a bit more about the females they like and what they may want if they read some yaoi.
