You know.. I love cats.. but I'm definitely not one to be an owner of them.. they're super sweet.. and they're great animals.. but I dont' care what people say, no matter how clean you are.. I can still smell the damn litter box.. Unless.. you have a really awesome cat, that actually goes in the toilet (I actually know someone who's cat does that - now if only she could teach him to flush)..

How often do you clean the cage?

Probably depends on what you're used to & what you're sensitive to. Though I can occasionally smell the litter boxes at my house, it really doesn't bother me - but doggie smell...I know some dogs have more smell than others, but I've yet to meet one that didn't have any odor at all, and it's a smell that bothers me. 🙂

That doesn't tell me how often it's cleaned. It's not the ferret that smells, but the cage, so if you clean it daily or every other day, it shouldn't smell. Oh, and I'm assuming he has his scent glands still?

I think the ferrets themselves smell a bit too. At least, the one I held at a pet store (ferret looked clean & healthy, cage looked clean) did have a distinctive (and unpleasant, to me) smell.

the ferrets themselves smell. espacially the male ones.
i have a huge alfa male ferret. he likes his territory.
btw ferrets come from the same family as the skunk, that is the cat family.

From weasel family, not cat. Do ferrets cuddle too like cats and dogs?
My cat smells good~a combination of fabric softner and my lotion. Sometimes he smells like my perfume.

You give him a bath & then tumble him dry in the dryer?? 😲
J/k, I'm sure you don't do that, but that's sure what it sounds like. 🤣

🤣 Actually one time he got inside the dryer when my mom opened it to check, then closed it again 'cause the clothes are still a bit wet. We heard a tumbling noise, so he only spent like 5-10 seconds in there. He also got inside the fridge, cabinets, etc. Cats can get a bit too curious sometimes, no?

ah! my ferret really likes to cuddle! he either curles to a ball on my lap or lying around my neck and messing with my hair and ears.

YES!! 🤣 One of my cats will move the step stool away from the bathroom cupboard (under the sink), open the cupboard door, and get out the old toothbrushes! Then he acts like a Mighty Hunter sharing his kill and leaves them around the house as presents. 🤣 He also gets on top of the fridge & opens the cupboard up there even though 99% of the time there's nothing interesting in it at all. Btw - this cat has a birth defect, he has no tail & his back legs are bowlegged & move together, so he hops like a bunny. He's supposed to be handicapped, but evidently no one ever told him that! 😀
We have several cats who would just love to crawl into the dryer, so we have to be careful about that. 😃
